^ I agree. Halo settings are everywhere. They are beautiful, but in a few years they will be identified as another past trend. The antique setting is more unique and beautiful, IMO.

I vote antique, Halo is a trend, I would stick with classic, it will still be in nice in 5-10 yrs,, Oy I cringe now when I see those journey necklaces on girls, reminds me of 2001

The halo trend makes me a bit sad, honestly. It used to be something that was uncommon and antique/art deco designs did have those, many times w/ a colored halo. I guess if it is a true antique/deco piece with a halo, it stands out as that though.

I prefer the antique for two reasons. First of all, the stone is antique, and secondly, I just don't like halos. I just think the antique looks more elegant and I think halos are overdone right now. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings who have a halo ring, it's just my opinion and I'm sort of sick of looking at halos.

Good luck in whichever you pick and wear it in good health!

i voted for the halo, only because in this instance, i like the setting more. i typically love/prefer antique or estate rings, but the halo one you're showing is gorgeous.

it looks like one of ericad's rings, too. is that a cushion cut? it's exquisite.

i honestly doubt that the halo setting "will go out of style." i think because it's such a beautiful style/setting that it's something that will always be "in style."

i mean, how could a ring like that be a trend? kwim?

I prefer the antique setting since the diamond is antique.

What is the size of the stone though? That would have bearing on how it should be set. If you want to amplify the overall size, then I would recommend the halo.

I've also seen antique diamonds set as a solitaire by Leon Mege that was stunning - for example, this ring owned by Snooper from PS.

Hope that helped.
