Which brand has the best quality?

I agree that best quality is subjective, and not something that we should argue about. However, if I were to speak from my experience, of the brands that I have owned, my celine luggage has the best quality. but this is out of coach, mk, lv, bal, chanel, celine, tory burch, mbmj, longchamp, henri bendel and that is all.

Most brands on this forum have had their share of quality complaints, so I don't think any brand is completely immune to quality defects. After all, people make and inspect these products, and sometimes its easy to miss a tiny flaw.

This can be argued until the moon turns to blue cheese.
And will remain personal preference, imo.

Yep! :D

Been to many of the subforums here, some people trash-talking other brands (and I have done my fair share, so I am not inculpable, either), but I have yet to really see one brand that is really, really far superior over the other brands...except maybe Hermes because their lifelong guarantee is better than any brand I've heard of, but they are so out of my league, I will probably never own one in my life.

I've owned/sold LV, Gucci, Prada, Burberry, Coach, and D&B...they were all good/bad in their own ways. If I really had to go out on a limb, I would say that the best bag I've ever owned (and still own) is my black LeSportsac nylon tote bag I got at Macy's for $80 back in 2009. It's understated, never got holes even though I treated it horribly (lol), straps/stitching stayed firm and tight despite stuffing it to the brim multiple times, great for travel, and it is super squishy and light. But again, that's just me. :cool:/s

i'm not sure this can have a definite answer? a lot depends on how someone treats their bags and the paces they are put through. i think vintage Chanel (30+ years) has the best quality. if you find a Chanel 30+ years old (and in decent condition), it'll look just as nice as those made today, if not better. that, to me, is quality craftsmanship; something that can stand the test of time and truly be passed down from generation to generation. a lot of bags today (ie Balenciaga) are AMAZING bags, but i see their 'life' expire after about 10-15 years and they look used and abused and faded and etc.
My opinion on this is not popular I know but I'll say it anyway......the frequency that a bag is actually used is important to take into account here. Of course this isn't a scientific poll so we'll never really know but if you really think about it......

Someone buys a Chanel bag and they use it on special occasions for several years.
Someone else buys a Bal bag that they love and want to use very frequently (say 4+ times/wk).
After 5 years go by it's easy to look at both bags and compare the wear and tear. Of course the Chanel probably looks really great due to less use but the Bal bag has been used so frequently that it's impossible for it to look the same.

Ah, the conundrum. It's really almost impossible to gauge the quality from brand to brand due to the use of the individual owner. Let's face it, people treat bags differently and as a result will base the quality on their own use.

Great post! I agree with you 100%. I think that it is really unfair to compare brands as there are so many variables involved. All brands use many different types of leather and they all age differently. Just the leather type alone is vast and how it is processed can determines how it wears/age over time. Leather that is full grained and drum-dyed will age differently to leather that has been processed/embossed/dyed/sprayed, etc.
A comparison of Chanel lambskin to Hermes agneau is fairer than caviar to togo/epsom leather.
There are so many leather brands that use high quality full grained leather, offer bespoke services and are handcrafted but will never be as recognized as some of the premiere names listed on tpf.

eta some people believe that if a leather bag scratches easily, it is inferior. For me, this is not the deciding factor of leather quality.

+1!!

I agree; frequency of use is the sole factor in many cases.
I've always been a big MK fan, especially the astor line, but I know in the earlier runs, they had both hardware and stitching issues, which were later resolved. I've never personally had a quality issue with Coach, not ever, but I'm thinking others may disagree. When it comes to more expensive brands, I had a 3.1 Phillip Lim, it seemed well constructed and sturdy, just didn't care for the style.
