which bag to wear with black moto jacket?

I have a bag with grommets that I bought specifically to go with my black leather moto jacket. However my jacket has very subdued hardware and clean uncluttered lines, and the bag is small and olive gray (the coach mini duffle with grommets).
Usually I use my plain black leather mini duffle, but I can use a lot of different bags with the jacket. It can be edgy or dressy. It can be part of tailored business look like a blazer. It depends what else I wear with it.
If your jacket is a statement piece, I would go with a subdued bag. Otherwise just try what you have. I even like my fabric mono bucket bags with it, and my black studded penny purse (small box bag). If I wore the jacket with a pencil skirt, I may even wear my coach borough bags with it. The trick it to repeat a design element of some other piece that you are wearing. You could certainly do something in edgy or subdued black leather, or you could wear a bag that brings out some other part of your outfit.
Since moto jackets are typically cropped or short, I would choose a proportionally smaller bag. A large bag that appears to be the same mass as the jacket would created a visual conflict since the focal points may be similar sizes. A bag that is 1/3 the size of the jacket or smaller would probably be my choice.
Wow! Awesome advice. Are you a stylist? I will try to post pics of both jackets on this thread a little later. The zippers on Moto are kind of bold. So I'm not sure about more hardware on bags to wear with it. But I totally agree with your size of bag ideas!
Jessh - do you prefer black bags with black leather jackets? I have olive Hammitt but again, not loving grommets. I have a mini blue bucket Mansur Gavriel but the blue is bright and I think takes focus off jacket. My Vuitton bags , I'm not loving with my black leather either. Unless I use my emp speedy 25 in the purplish brownish color. I forget the name of it.
You just have to try them with each outfit to see if you like it. I would either go for black or something with some contrast. A subdued black bag that goes perfectly will probably get a lot of use with your jacket, but other bags could be fun on occasion. For example, if you have a damier azul bag, that might be nice with gray or medium blue jeans. The blue bucket bag might be nice if you have a top or scarf that has that color in it.
I don't like to wear more than one statement piece at a time, unless they go together so well that they look like a single statement piece. My black leather jacket is not a statement piece, so I'll use any excuse to use a colored bag - unless I am wearing another statement piece. For example black leather jacket plus tall black boots are enough of a statement for me.
I have a blue leather moto jacket that is a statement piece so it is harder to find a bag to go with it. Black mini duffle is my go-to, but chambray borough could work, gray-silver mono fabric bag works well and I could do the burgundy ace satchel with it too. But nothing too colorful or detailed would work with it.

IDK about color transfer. The last couple of leather jackets I bought and returned had warnings about color transfer. I usually carry dark bags with dark clothes for that reason.
So black might be your color if you are not hand-carrying your bag.
I just got a RM Mini Love to go with my MK color block moto jacket. The RM is black with gunmetal (here) and the leather jacket is black and oxblood with clean lines. I thought the ladylike look of the Love would be a nice contrast and a bit more grown up to wear with the leather jacket, but the chain strap and hardware details on the bag and even the quilting would lend some cool "edge" to a moto style outfit. I will wear it with these cool strappy Frye's I picked up last week (here).
Another idea is this Via Spiga in black haircalf. I own a few VS items and they are very high quality. I also just ordered this bag to wear either with my moto jacket or my more casual/edgy styles. I think the calfhair adds a little sophistication and is unique. It might go great with your fringed jacket!
