Where's the love for bucket bags?

Hear me out. I used to dislike these bags. They're loose and without structure. They seem like they swallow up items in a bottomless, unstructured pit. They can't possibly be secure, with their slightly open top.

And, yet... here I am today, a dozen bucket bags later... 🫣😊😁

Anyone else?
I know what you mean. Perhaps it is practical and accessible (like a tote) I.e. no hardware, zipper or flap to fuss with..but because it’s more vertical, it Is slightly more secure. And it can hold a water bottle upright. I do concur with the dichotomy. In any case, bucket bags are having a moment and you have so many nice ones!

My eyes popped at your collection because I. Love. Bucket. Bags. Too!
I’ve never seen those Gucci buckets ever and now I have to search !
Yes, they do feel like a bottomless pit but still, there’s something about them. Dooney and Bourke had the best styles in the 80’s and 90’s too.
Lately I’ve been thinking strongly about the LV Neonoe, with blue trim; seems like a great casual choice.
Here’s two of mine that resemble a bucket, but they just don’t stand up.IMG_5262.jpeg

Agree with the OP…love the look of bucket bags but hated the impracticality. I used to have an Alexander Wang Diego - the style was gorgeous but it was a struggle to get anything in or out of that dang thing!

I also hated most bucket styles that had drawstring cinch tops that had to be tied - what a pain! And that had totally square or circular bottoms…I like to wear bags crossbody and these styles stick out awkwardly from the body.

The LV Neonoe got me rethinking buckets. I like the internal divider to keep things organized and it seems the drawstrings would smooth to cinch without a knot.

But I ended up getting a Coach Dakota bucket and LOVE it! Magnetic top clasp, kinda “buckles” nicely when carried. Structured leather so it’s not a bottomless pit; I made a felt organizer to fit so everything has its place. Oval bottom so it looks good crossbody and has feet to stand on nicely. Multiple ways to carry. And such a great price for the quality! Lots of shots and detailed review on the Coach forum!
