Where Do You Return?

Almost a year ago the manager of my local fp boutique straight out denied my FOS madison phoebe from being returned. It was in perfect condition with tags (I just didn't like the color). My favorite SA told her she wasn't allowed to deny it but she did anyway. The manager said something about the store not being able to afford the return since they would have to pay to send it back to JAX. My fp boutique is always a ghost town, I'm really surprised it is still open.
In all fairness a year ago their return policy was that the fp stores could not take back outlet merchandise. If they were nice enough they would mail it back for you, but by no means were they required to. Now their return policy states that you can bring back outlet merchandise to fp stores within 60 days.

You could always return outlet merchandise to a FP store. It was just that you would only get store credit, not a refund.

A year ago FOS merchandise could be returned to fp boutiques for store credit. Almost a year ago (when I bought my phoebe) the policy changed so that you were refunded in the form of original payment (except paypal). The new policy was even on the back of my order form stating I could return it. I paid $50 coach gift card and the rest on my debit. I was polite and even said I would take the payment all on a merch credit because I wanted to preorder a rhyder that day anyway. The manager still denied it even though the other employee said she had no reason to deny it. I left and took it to my outlet the next day. The managers there said she was wrong in how she handled the return and asked for her name so they could deal with her (a regional manager was visiting the outlet that day). The manager at the outlet refunded me the entire purchase back on my debit card. She did so as a nice gesture since I had to waste my time at the boutique and I wasn't treated right.

My apologies, your'e right I forgot you could return outlet merch for store credit with a receipt.
I guess you threw me off since it hasn't quite been a year yet, the policy only changed last october.

The manager either quit shortly after or was fired, I never asked which. I'm glad she's not there anymore, she always talked down to the other employees. According to 2 of my favorite SAs she was down right verbally abusive to them.

I'll never understand why people like that choose to pursue a career in retail?

I've never understood that either. Maybe they are stuck in the job due to lack of opportunities elsewhere, but even so they should still reign in their resentment and not take it out on their co-workers and customers. It doesn't look good on their resumé if they get fired.

I've been fortunate that both the Coach stores here seem to be staffed with very friendly people who make it a nice experience to stop in the store, even if I'm not buying something that day.
