When you carry a designer handbag, do you feel like you need a designer wallet etc. t

It's not important to me, but having bought a number of designer bags this half of the year, like MK, Zanellato, Burberry and Coach, naturally I would love to try out a designer wallet, which I bought and chosen the Chloe Paraty continental wallet. But that does not mean I will move on to other designer pieces like key pouch or Ipad sleeve or bracelet etc because I do not see the point.

I like owning high quality designer wallets that last long - I usually use one for a long time and use the same one with all my bags. I don't feel the need to match my wallet with my bag but I do like owning designer wallets that last because that's one less thing to worry about.

+1. I consider them great investment pieces. I used to buy cheap wallets that would easily break or that I would get bored with quickly, until my dad gifted me a LV zippy in high school. I just graduated from college and it still looks great, even after 6 years of everyday use! Plus, I probably would have gone through the same amount of money, if not more, buying other wallets if I hadn't gotten my zippy.

Actually, before I didn't mind using non designer wallets and other accessories. But I have compared my coach wallet and ID/card holder and they have held up for more than 5 years compared to a less expensive wallet I got as a gift which looks worn out with just 6 months of use. So now I'm investing more in designer wallets since they seem more practical for me. :)

One of the first designer items I bought was an LV ZCP which still looks brand new after over fours years of almost daily use. I'm sure I would have spent the same or more replacing cheap wallets every few months in that time. I use it with all my bags whether they are LV, contemporary designers or not designer at all.

The same, I've been using my LV ZCP with all my bags for years :)

Thanks for the replies everyone!

When it comes to wallets i'm just such a creature of habit -- I hate changing wallets! Just recently I bought a Ted Baker one and it's huge but as much as I love looking at it, I regret buying it because it's super annoying and impractical!

I agree that ultimately it's really up to you nobody else is going to care. But maybe it also depends on the designer bag....i would find it weird to pull my beat up Fossil wallet out of a chanel bag.

Feeling judged by SA's is the worst! A couple of weeks ago I went shopping with a friend and we ended up going to a high end department store and I felt so judged in my comfy shopping spree outfit!

As long as it doesn't look grimy or tattered, I don't care much about what my wallet looks like, as long as it's functional and subtle. I never switch wallets as I'm too lazy to be bothered. Subtle is key--I did feel a bit silly pulling out my hello kitty lounge fly wallet that I carried for years (I'm, um, a bit old for her), so I was pleased when she got too tatty to carry and I had an excuse to buy a normal wallet.

Umm--yes! My first foray into designer bags was last year with a Foley + Corinna disco city tote (mini version of the mid city). From there I've bought 3 Rebecca Minkoff bags and a Kate Spade. My wallet is Kate Spade--a stacy wallet I believe, in aqua/turquoise. I bought it because it seemed ridiculous having a cheap wallet. I think I actually carried a Cleobella card case instead of a wallet, which was nice, but the Kate Spade is wonderful. I think they do great leather goods for the price. Esp. if you can get them on sale.

Yes, I do.
But, I've been buying one specific wallet style for years from Salvatore Ferragamo. It's a specific style that's perfect for me and currently have it in 4 colors. I slipped up once and bought a Balenciaga wallet but learned from my mistake.

My wallet obsession started way before my handbag one did though.

I will admit to having other designer SLG's like m/u bags, coin purses, and key chains. Just think they're cute. But it's generally the same three designers. The ones I always go back to.

I'm actually one of those crazy people who don't use a wallet. Yes, I have a beautiful Bal wallet, but it so happens that my current favorite bag has a perfect little outside pocket for a stack of cards, I put my cash in an interior zipped pocket and I use the LV pouch my lock came in for my change...

I absolutely hate wallets and the smaller they are/less they hold, the better. I used to carry a long wallet and found I just stuffed it full of junk. Now I carry a card case (currently Alexander McQueen) for just my essentials. Makes my life (and bag rotation) so much easier! Doesn't have to be "premier designer", but I do prefer a quality one since I don't change it out and it takes a beating.

I prefer one good wallet that will last for a long time, but I'm not much for other accessories (makeup bags, key pouches, etc.). My first luxury item was a wallet rather than a purse and I remember feeling a bit silly pulling my LV wallet out of a $15 purse from Walmart! As some others have said, one good wallet can be less costly over time than constantly replacing cheap ones that don't wear well.

I feel like if I wear a designer bag it doesn't matter what wallet I have. And if I have a designer wallet I don't care what bag I'm carrying is. If I have at least one staple piece I'm content. :)

It doesn't matter if the bag I carry is designer or not, it's the size and my needs that dictate what's inside. I'm only getting into higher end SLG - you may find a Chloe wallet or a 1,50€ coin purse hiding in the bag. I am lusting after a LV key pouch, a Mulberry Locked Cosmetic Purse and God knows what else...I think another purge marathon is soon to be seen. :weird:
