My interpretation of satisfied: I feel good about what I own, have a bag for nearly every occasion in my lifestyle, have a good variety to pick from, and don't have any major wardrobe gaps. I may have my eye on certain other bags, but it definitely feels more like a WANT, not a NEED.

Satisfied does NOT mean I will never buy another bag again.

Anyway, satisfaction happened for me the beginning of this year. I have 14 bags. 13 premium, 1 contemporary. I have elegant satchels, large practical totes, casual crossbody bags, and bags I can take with me on an evening out. The major color groups have been satisfied. After my last purchase, I went 6 months without thinking about a next purchase. I finally felt like I didn't have a bag on the brain constantly.

I just put myself down on the wait list for a Chanel caviar boy in black. I'll also likely get a Diorama in an accent color sometime in 2018-19, unless something else catches my eye.

Wow love this thread and everyones's replies above. Its so good to take a step back and reflect sometimes.
This thread has come at the absolute right time for me.
I'm completely and utterly satisfied with my handbag collection - just have the big one to go - hermes birkin 25-30 and that will be for my big 40 next year [emoji4]
Other than that my beautifully curated small collection of about 10 handbags and a handful of slg's is more than enough for me. Each and every one of my pieces makes my heart sing in different ways and that's all I want. [emoji173][emoji173][emoji173][emoji173]

I love bags and fashion. So from time to time I am satisfied but then I come back and see something else. Tastes and lifestyle changes. I spent several years not buying anything. I was satisfied. But now I'm re-examining what I have and like and buying. Not only do I like to buy, I just like talking about it and looking at beautiful pieces! More of an interest for me anyway.

I've been thinking about this a lot recently! My work is my hobby, so my actual off-duty hobby is fashion and I love researching all aspects of it! That being said, I purchased three new bags in August, three different brands, shapes, colors, materials. I love them all equally and I feel like I haven't been using my new bags nearly enough! My collection is far from my ideal/dream collection, yet somehow I feel no need to buy another bag for a while…probably because I feel like my current collection is more than enough for my needs. I'm feeling more of an urge to work on my clothing or SLG collections!

I've been culling my bag collection and I think I am close to satisfied. I love bags but I really needed to use them for it to make sense to keep them, so I focused on where and how I would use them. The reality is I spend a lot of time at work so making sure I had a nice collection of bags to carry to work became the biggest priority. It is also the hardest because there really is a limited range of styles and colors I see. I want clean lines, understated luxury bags for work. I also realized I love my bags to be more structured and satchel style. I don't mind totes but I love the structured together looks of satchels.

My go to work bags at the moment are my Chanel cerf tote in black sh and the Saint Laurent Sac de Jour in Cognac. I would love to add a Taupe bag but it has been very hard to find one I really like ( I sold my LV Capucines MM in Latte--my biggest selling regret [emoji30])

The other thing I did was get rid of multiples and stuck to only classics. I now only have 1 jumbo, 1 boy bag, 1 woc and the Chanel reissue 226. I would love to add a medium beige flap and then my Chanel collection will be complete.

I also sold a lot of my slgs. I really only use my LV empriente key pouch---I don't carry a lot of cards just my 2 debit cards, work credit card and my insurance card. This really helped me focus on function and use. Slgs are a great but you can easily go over board like I initially did.

In the end for me being satisfied is having a collection with pieces that work for my lifestyle and get used. That means less bags and slgs.

I started overhauling my handbag collection about 6 years ago. In so doing, I sold about 120 bags - only keeping one. Now, I have a 27 bags in my collection. And, I'm crazy in love with each of them. :hbeat:

I think I'm satisfied with my collection now because I stopped buying bags unplanned and one off like I did before. Instead, I built my current collection around a (flexible and evolving) plan based on my usage/needs. I made course corrections along the way when I learned a certain style really worked / didn't work for me. And, most of all, I tried really hard to only buy bags I truly loved. (Huge thanks to the ladies on the Shopping My Own Bag and Wallet Collection Thread for helping me and keeping me honest.)

That means I now have the right variety, colors and styles for me. I also have a bag for just about every occasion I run across. So, I don't hunger for any specific bag.

But, as a few others have said, the fact that I'm very satisfied does not mean I won't ever buy a new bag (or sell one I currently own). Styles change and I want to keep my look updated. Or, I may just buy a bag because it's downright gorgeous and it won't "cannabalize" the use of my other bags.

I am pretty happy with what I have. But if I see a leather bag in a gorgeous color I will want it sooooo bad... I don't know what I will do. It's not something I need though. (haha like that matters).

How come the title of this thread is in past tense? lol I'm comfortable with what I have, and my buying has definitely slowed; doesn't mean I won't purchase a bag ever though, or just look every now and then. Enjoy your collection!

I don't think being satisfied means never buying another bag or never looking at other bags. For some it may, for others it may not. I imagine it is in the past sense as OP is asking those who already feel satisfied - whether or not they plan to buy another bag - when that happened for them.

I became complete in the fall of 2015 when I went on a binge and found every bag I had wanted for years. I still want one certain bag but it's a cross between a hobo and a tote and I don't like hobos. It's way out of season so it's never going to be in a shop to try it out. It must not be meant to be.

What I’m wondering is what are the types of bags in your collection before you considered your collection satisfying.
I’m trying to reach the point where I am satisfied with a handful of bags. I’m about to purge my collection for the perfect few. But I’m worried that the satisfaction would only be temporary. So my question is whether it’s the types of bags in ones collection or the right (suitable) bags that makes ones collection satisfactory.

Honestly, there are a couple of more things I would like to own before I can truly say am satisfied forever. Hmm.. I’ll answer this again in a few years time. Lol

I only got into bag last year. I was gifted a Chloe Marcie Crossbody a few years ago and used it on a daily basis -- aside from my backpack and Longchamp, it was literally the only bag I owned!

Since then, I've purchased four more for myself. I tried to "diversify," so now I'm pretty much satisfied with what I have:
  • Chanel Classic Flap
  • Chloe Marcie Crossbody
  • Chloe Drew
  • Gucci Soho Disco
  • Givenchy Pandora
I am going to London/Paris next month, though, so I might get a Chanel Boy or Reissue.
