I'm something between practical and luxury seeker; I need my bags to be functional but still very well made and pretty. After being dooped once (in China, of all places) into buying a bag made of gorgeous leather but with the zipper losing its teeth within weeks of purchase, I'm now very anal about checking out the stitching, zippers, lining etc...
Having said that, I wouldn't buy an unpractical or uncomfortable bag, no matter how luxurious or well made. Status or recognizability is not an important criteria for me whether it involve clothing, shoes or bags - the only exception is my fetish with Adidas Superstar sneakers. :worthy:

Practical at heart but sometimes I'll also be status driven, especially when I have some important meetings to go to, otherwise it's practicality all the way.

Luxury and practical seeker and a special snowflake, I don't like IT bags they only last a few seasons but give me a luxurious bag that I can use as a mum bag and pull it out in a few years time and still work I am completely sold!

The most important things for me to consider in a bag is, quality, comfort, and function..I don't go for logos, I prefer a luxurious soft leather that I know will last and age beautifully. I have to have a place for everything I carry, so my bag has to have a nice amount of room and I love multi-function compartments.

Great thread :smile1:

I am label - conscious, luxury seeker and practical. After a lifetime of bumpy Walmart bags, I now look only for quality, as well as reputable makers. I know by looking at the brand if it's going to be quality or not.

Some archetypes:

  • Trendoid: you have to have the latest IT bag. First.
  • Label Conscious: you are driven by brand recognition, for bag aficionados and everyone else.
  • Luxury Seeker: only the best for you. The best material, the best craftsmanship.
  • Status-driven: your bag helps you showcase your current station in life (or the one you aspire to)
  • Practical: you have one or a handful of bags. Your choices are driven by practical needs, and value. You want a bag to last oeuvre since it will be your daily driver for years to come.
  • Special snowflake: you want to be the only person on your block (or on the planet) with you bag. Its a unique expression of you.

Neither...I don't know what that could be called but I look for bags that please my eye, are of good quality, not too pricey, fit with my wardrobe. I like to have many and switch it up.

I am driven by designer brands, but not for recognition. I'm not a big logo person; it's for my own personal sense of fulfillment. I love the happiness that comes from buying and owning something I find special. I suppose that makes me more luxury driven. I love exotic skins and high quality leather.

I'm also a bargain hunter. I love the thrill that comes with finding something you love at a price that makes you feel like you "won." It makes every bag have a special story... Like you found it, as opposed to buying the newest "it" bag.

I'd say i'm practical and a luxury seeker. I don't buy the same type of bags so I make sure I have different sizes and for different occasions. So that means that the bags have to be of the best quality and the best (practical) design. If i'm paying hundreds or thousands of dollars on a bag, it has to be practical and has to be made really well.
