A few months ago, the majority of threads have covered every aspect of Tiffany's. Now it's all about VCA. All of a sudden a brand turns into a must have and members jump the band wagon. I am curious, which brand will be the new "must have" a few months from now.

This forum has major influence on the opinions of many it seems, triggers cravings for brands. Did you ever wonder how many brand managers, marketing people etc. from those companies are amongst us?

My guess would be hardly any, if at all, since we, the community evoke those "needs" for certain brands by ourselves. One person starts and posts a few photos, another person "likes", a few follow and soon everything here is about the one brand.

Too sad, the German community is rather small here, I would love to read more on WEMPE. :-)
Or the Italian community for Pomellato.

I think overall the standard luxury brands endure--like Tiffany, Cartier, VCA...big brands are popular both for readily identifiable status and also the quality and customer service.

I have 1 Pomellato piece that I really love!

I think trends are circular consumer patterns that are inevitable. Many of the brands we discuss are already known and the collections have been available for a while.

for exmaple Tiffany threads are all over the place during Christmas and holiday times, ever notice that?

I don't know if people necessarily catch on to a trend and follow or perhaps they already showed interest and researched it online and stumbled across TPF? I have seen this happen to myself a few times when I have googled a certain designer or item. my specific time was when I was interested in the Pomellato Veleno ring, the pomellato thread was inactive for a while and buried pages back- but once it was brought to the top of the page people started discussing pomellato and posting pictures of new Nudo rings etc...

TPF has never tempted me with bags- I find these are something I need to try on in person feel the weight, check out the pockets etc...but jewellery I have been tempted!

I think the one and only piece I can blame on TPF is my yellow diamond ring! when I saw Khol mascaras ring I knew I had to have a yellow diamond :D before seeing her ring I thought it would be unattainable or coloured diamonds were just not for me, I can easily replace the temptation with gemstones...but no! the yellow diamond trend was definitely like wildfire here on TPF!!

regarding marketing reps for various designers or companies- yes they are definitely here- and probably gather information, but I don't think they post about their brands. I work for a Swiss watch company (small one but known within the watch community) and I have never posted the brand I work for or posted a picture of my watch in any of the watch threads, work is work and I like being part of this community "socially" if you know what I mean:giggles:

oh yes, the yellow diamonds - this was some major wildfire!

Who knows, maybe I will be able to active a small Pomellato wildfire with your ladies help.

In the past advertisments in magazines used to trigger me, today forums became the new magazines and postings function as advertisments.

I definitely got a Love Bracelet bug from the forum... never wanted one before until reading the forum discussion and see all the photos, then 4 wks later purchased my first love bracelet. No reget, wear it ever since ...

I've always been attracted to VCA...ever since I was a little girl. I remember seeing the beautiful and magical displays every time I walked by their boutique. So I even started my e-ring search with them. Unfortunately, I wanted something that was a bit more simple and classic so I went with HW. I found TPF while I was doing a search for my e-ring and loved it here ever since because I can communicate with others about VCA jewelry that no one else around me will understand. I do admit though that I get drawn into some beautiful items from this forum as well. I think it's also because not everything is on their official website and then I come here and get exposed to so many other beautiful pieces.

I've loved Hermes since before there was the Internet and then, one day, I found the forum. On the Hermes board, there were a few lovers of VCA and that sparked my interest in VCA recently. I was on tpf for years before ever coming to the The Jewelry Box.

There is something about seeing pictures of an item on real life people and hearing thier opinions and comments that all the advertising in the world can not and will not ever replace.

And I adore Pomellato! :smile1:

I blame purse forum for all of my purchases! I just realized what VCA stood for about 6 months ago. I had seen Van Cleef at NM but was too intimidated to go inside. I guess the whole VCA crazy was due to price increases. It's fun to see what everyone is getting and how they wear their jewelry. Prior to 6 months ago I was never on the jewelry forums. I just recently decided to invest in some nice pieces. I like other designers as well, Cathy Waterman, David Yurman, Anita Ko, Jennifer Fisher Sydney Evan.....I keep my eyes out for new designers and fun pieces.

I blame purse blog for all my shoe purchases, but I don't regret any of them since Pbf members have great taste. I am not really a jewelry wearer so this section has not really tempted me, but I do have an eye on some watches that I will purchase in the future.

oooh just you wait, we'll get ya sooner or later:ninja::whistle:

It is funny how one month there will be a lot of Rolex reveals, then a bunch of Love bracelets, then VCA. Besides E-rings, I feel like Tiffany doesn't get the live it used to lately.
