It is my understanding that a Coach bag that was "Made in the United States" and has a xxx-xxxx serial number was probably made in the late 1980s, but you should post this in the "ID This Coach Item!" thread above to have the experts take a look at it.

BTW, I always ask for an authentication even when I feel confident that the bag is genuine, and I have been fooled a few times!

Thanks! I just posted this there.

I paid her in cash and don't even know her real email address (just the masked one from Craigslist), so I have nothing to gain from learning this bag is fake. She's a nice old woman who told me the story of how she got into the Coach brand, and the bag matches every picture of a Court on this forum. :)

I understand, but if you ever want to sell it or give it as a gift, you'd probably would want to know if it was real.

The Court bag came out in 1987. I owned USA bags with 1990s date info in the Creed. I know from personal experience that eBay was flooded with fake USA models in the early 2000s. That was when Coach moved away from classic and moved operation s from China. I have filled Coach for two decades. I also own 1992 bags made in Costa Rica and Mexico.
