imagine a three stone diamond ring.
all three stones make up .25 carats.
the stone in the middle is slightly larger than the two next to it on each side.
the diamonds probably fall in the "M" color...not quite sure but theyre dark in the middle. i want to say grayish. other people who have the ring that wrote reviews say the diamonds are "cloudy" i just think theyre dark.
set in 10k gold. its from target.

please share your thoughts with me...what would you say if you got this as an engagement ring?

If you're in love you should say "yes." Otherwise I'd imagine you'd say "no."

If you're proposed to with a ring you don't like you should sit down with your fiance and tell him kindly that while you love him and the sentiment behind the token, it does not fit your style or personality, and that you'd like to announce you engagement but in the meantime search for another ring. Target has a sound return policy.

Some people might actually like the ring. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I agree with Tiffanysilver. If you said yes, then tell him as nicely as possible that the ring presented was not the ring you pictured for your engagement. Do you know where he got it? What is the return/exchange policy?

I would say yes if it's the man that I love.

I would also replace the diamonds into this setting or get a setting replicated which looks like that AND had better diamonds....without his knowledge so it doesn't hurt his feelings. It's risky and pretty shady though, but at least you're BOTH happy.

OR

I would get an AWESOME blinged out wedding ring and wear only that.

OR

Find out from Target whether or not it's returnable, if it is, talk to your man and tell him that the ring is not your style.

I was asked for my hand in marriage and did not receive any ring and I am still happily married many years later. Its not the ring size that matters, its the guy presenting it and if that was what he can afford then I would say thank you :)

Honestly I wouldnt want. If I love the man and want to marry but he can't afford much, then I'd just get a plain band. I'd rather wear a plain band than greyish diamonds. Just my opinion.

It would depend on if I wanted to marry him!

Honestly though, it sounds like there wasn't a huge budget to work with. I don't think he was deciding between this and a 1 carat from Tiffany's. I'm sure he did the best he could with the resources he has, he loves you and wants to marry you, and isn't that better than any ring?

Was this ring presented to you or one of your friends?

If I loved the man I would be thrilled with the proposal, but to be honest I would not be thrilled with this ring. The ring pretty much says he doesn't know what you would like, even though I understand the very limited budget. If a decent small diamond was out of the question for an engagement, I would prefer a small band of nice, but more inexpensive gemstones, like an amethyst band or something. I'd rather have a lower profile, but nice gemstone, than grey diamonds just because they are diamonds. I don't think it is necessarily a material issue or being superficial. I would never present my man with a material thing to wear (presumably everyday for the rest of his life or for a long period from the present to the near future) that didn't match the quality of who I think he is... and since I can't afford to shop in all the highest priced stores, I scour the outlets and discount lots to find him something of higher quality at a lower price I can afford.

I think tiffanysilver gave good advice about sitting him down and talking to him about it gently. Again, it is not the price or size of the ring, it is the quality.

I would say yes to my DH even with a ring from a coca cola can.

If you don't like the particular ring you can say so (in a nice way ;)) and try to find a ring you like within his budget. Why settle for bad diamonds and low carat gold when you can get another gem stone (birthstone is a good idea) and /or metal? If his budget is extremely low you can always wear a nice Swarovski ring, I really like the Dazzle ring as engagement ring. http://www.swarovski.com/Web_US/en/953107/product/Dazzle_Ring_.html?CatalogCategoryName=0112

Don't waste your money on bad quality.

If I wanted to marry the guy, I would say yes.

I would start planning the wedding. Then I would get married.

And a couple of years down the road, maybe suggest (if it still mattered to me at all) that we "upgrade" the diamonds for an anniversary present - but only if I knew that it wouldn't hurt him.

There are so many things in your relationship that matter more than a ring that no one but you is even going to think about long enough to form a judgment. A strong, loving relationship with a good man who wants to spend his life with you is so, so, so much more important. Its not worth upsetting over a ring that he probably picked out in hopes that you would be super-happy with his choice.

Okay I found some more. Got a little carried away! I hope everything works out for you whatever you decide. I would also say yes to dbf with an onion ring (a la Marge and Homer Simpson - come to think of it - he already proposed to me that way once - I think he was joking? Maybe we are engaged?? Who knows! haha I love him)... but then over some time, I would want something on my finger to represent our engagement, something pretty, that I liked, even if it was very modest.
