Hi Sneezz, I'm sorry to hear about your problem!

I don't have many pieces of jewelry but what I do have are Platinum. Even my oldest pieces never tarnished like that!! As far as I know Platinum are not supposed to tarnish. That's is why I pick that over gold, b/c it's a harder metal, low maintenance and hold up better over time. I am very hard on my stuff so I don't want to have to worry about my stone becoming lose!

I do not feel that you are being anal. You paid for Platinum which is more expensive then gold. You didn't pay for Platinum PLATED!! At this point how do you know for sure if the settings are platinum or platinum plated as well? I would return them period, b/c now I don't trust them.

^ well it's well over the 30 day return period. I never even wore them, only tried them on. Idk if it's platinum plated. I do see "PLAT" inscribed in the post. I'm not sure it's tarnished. I think I'll take it to a jeweler to get it checked out.

I bought my diamond earrings from Whiteflash. I had some issues with my ears because they were not totally healed from repiercing. I felt their CS was excellent. They were very patient trying to make me happy...sent me jumbo backs that as I recall weren't originally included and kept following up to see if I was happy. I would very much doubt that they sold you platinum plate instead of platinum. I don't really see where it's such a big deal if the discoloration is small and it's going to be inside your ear where no one wil see it.
But if you do return the earrings I don't think they will switch the stones. I'd be more worried about shipping them back and forth.

Thanks sdkitty for your feedback. The shipping back and forth worries me too. I don't think they'd switch the stones as others have pointed out that they wouldn't put their reputation in jeopardy. I guess for me the issue is the quality that I paid for.

I'm not 100% but I think since the diamond is certified, it would have some numbers on the diamond also? Once you get it back you can ask a local jeweler to check if it's the same one. Good luck!

I think only certain diamonds have those numbers but I was thinking if you got it appraised when you first received it, you should be able to go back to the same person to get reassurance that you have the same diamonds when you get them back.
