Hi, everyone. So, here's the thing - I've been lusting after a Cartier Trinity ring for a while and decided to start saving my pennies a couple of months ago to finally get one. I'm almost ready pull the trigger but I can't decide if I should get a new one from the store or go with pre-owned. The classic model retails at £775 (and there's talk of price increase on 14th) but obviously would be all shiny and new and come with the box, papers, an' all that. On the other hand, a pre-owned one would be half that price which would leave me with almost £400 to spend on something else. I could either get Tiffany pearls by the yard or wait, save a little more and get a VCA pendant.

Anyway, what you would do in my situation?

Loony you've worked hard, saved hard and you deserve a lovely day of shopping at the boutique. Take youself off to Cartier, enjoy the sights, smells and sensations and then go for a glass of bubbles and admire your shiny new ring. You've earned it :drinkup:

personally, if I could be 100% sure that the pre-owned one would be authentic, I'd get that one. I don't need something to be brand new, as long as it's still in great condition, it doesn't bother me. Especially since you're essentially paying for the name, and not the actual value of the piece. Having said that, some designers I'd be too worried about buying a 2nd hand piece and it end up being fake, so I would would be more likely to just purchased the piece from the designer and save myself the headache. JMO though.

Normally I'd say pre-owned. I'm all about saving some $$ for something else, but for some reason this seems different. Maybe it's because you've wanted it so long, or that you've been saving for a long while. I think all that desire and time deserves "the Experience".

That's a tough decision because you could easily validate both. However, in this situation, I would pay the extra $ and enjoy the "Cartier" experience.

Best of luck with whatever you decide and please post pics.

Is this going to be the only piece of Trinity ring you plan on purchasing?

I bought the same piece you are interested in off of *bay. I got it from a reputable seller and the piece seems authentic to me. It came with few light scratches and was almost perfect. I'm not sure if the seller polished it at some point (possible loss of gold).

I, however, had the intention of purchasing the Trinity ring with diamonds all along. Getting the plain classic model was to make sure that I truly love the trinity ring. I purchased my second piece in the Carrtier boutique.

I enjoy wearing both trinity rings. IMHO, I think you should go through the whole Cartier experience if this is the only Cartier piece you are going to get for now.

I think that after saving up for something for so long you deserve to walk into Cartier or VCF or Tiffany's and get what you really want!

You deserve to carry around that little shopping bag and know that you deserved every penny of that purchase that you just made!

Congrats and I can't wait to see what you get!!

Thanks for your insights, ladies, keep 'em coming.

Regarding the whole Experience thing - I'll probably forego the boutique experience either way. I'm not in London so even if I decide to buy new then I'll most likely just order over the phone and have it delivered here.

I never say no to a glass of bubbles though (hey, Handy!) ;) Oh and I'll certainly make sure to post the pics.

I guess it depends, if it will be you first Cartier ring or for some special days or ceremonies or ..... definitely get a brand new;
if just for fun, you could try a pre-owned.
