I usually buy coach handbags but have always wanted to try a Michael kors bag. What would be a good first bag. I love the look of the Hamilton and Selma. Not sure about safffiano leather as I've never tried it. Will go to a Michael kors store to try some styles out before I purchased just wanted your opinion. Thanks.

You're starting in the right place looking at the Hamilton and Selma. If you aren't familiar with saffiano leather, it will seem fake and like plastic at first, but it truly is a wonderful advancement on traditional leather. They've stamped a cross-hatch design in the leather that makes it water, stain, and scratch resistant. You'll really appreciate this the next time you get stuck in a rain storm with your handbag. :rain: Saffiano leather was developed by Prada originally and is used by almost every handbag designer these days. :smile1:

+1.....I totally agree. The Style depends on what works for you and your lifestyle, but you cannot go wrong with saffiano leather. I dripped ice cream with chocolate sauce and caramel on a saffiano bag and wiped it right off. With any other type of leather there would have been panic and chaos LOL!!

I have 3 kids so I think this would be a good choice for me now I just need to figure out which color. I love color in my handbags but I may stick to classic prob navy I love the navy with the gold hardware.

LOL! I did the exact opposite. Most of my MK purses are bright colors. I only have 3 neutral mk's and they are all black with a lot of detail, the rest are all brights: mandarin, summer blue, apple, raspberry etc..not sure why I went in this direction. I HAVE been eyeing the camden satchel in navy. The tassels are a beautiful detail.

Yeah I have seen more and more designers use this leather. I think the Hamilton is beautiful.

The Hamilton in navy with gold hardware is gorgeous! Would you be taking a look at the e/w satchel or the n/s tote?

That's a hard question. There are so many beautiful styles to choose from. I love thick soft leather. Got that from being a Coach lover for many years. I always loved their thick glove tanned leather. The only problems I had with soiling were on the lighter colors of course, so yes the Saffiano leather, is great if you want bright colors.

Has anyone here tried any of their goat leather bags?? OMG! I have the Naomi in goat leather. I checked other brands with the same kind of leather and they going for 1900.00!! MK has goat leather bags for under 500.00 which is reasonable for goat leather.

I recently sold an MK Naomi bag online for 250.00 and made the mistake of telling the gal how much I loved mine. When she got it, she emailed me a few days later, because she wanted me to sell MINE for her mother! lol! Because now her mom wanted one just like it! I said , sorry no way! lol! They are too hard to find in the silver hardware which I prefer, and so did she, but there are plenty of them in gold.

Anyhow, I just can't rave enough about that goat skin leather. It is thick yet soft and cleans up easily. Very expensive though, but it will last forever. If any of you ever get one, I think you will be hooked like I am. Seems MK has only one other style in the goat leather. I know it sounds crazy, but I am just hooked on it! Baaaahhhaaa! lol!

Not sure I like them both. Which do you think is better?
JMHO - I like the East / West tote. The North/ South is really large. The larger is great if you need to carry around your lap top or a lot of stuff with you. The East West is a good size too, but not quite so large. It is also more appropriate for formal occasions, yet can be used for everyday use. I have both, and find myself using the East West more often. Seems it works better for more occasions. I only use the bigger one if I am traveling or have my grand babies with me. They both are nice, but for me the East West, is just the perfect size. All depends on your needs and life style.

If the Sutton has caught your eye, take a look at the Stylish Dressy/Sutton Tote Club thread...

The Sutton is a pretty bag and I own one, but you need to choose your size wisely and know what you'll be using it for. It doesn't work so well with heavy loads.
I see there's a small, medium and large. I think the small will be too small so the medium would prob be best. I don't carry a lot in my bag so maybe it won't be too heavy. I like the two zippered pockets and like that they all have his logo on all the hardware. That looks pretty cool. Thanks for all your help. I will do a reveal when I pick up my new bag. I'm excited to see them in person.
