I learned a little about diamond cut when I sold an antique diamond belonging to my grandma.
the diamond shouldn't be too shallow or too deep. look for an excellent or ideal cut. you can find proportions guides online.
You need the measurements to figure out the dimensions. take by a jeweler to tell you.
LMR, I believe in what you say! There are different qualities concerning the cut. The goldsmith said all the smaller stones get cut by machines and so there is only 1 quality: the perfect quality. Well, he is a goldsmith and not a jeweler.
My dears,
I have to thank you for encouraging me to bring the ring back.
He took it back!
I asked if I would be welcome as a client in the future, after this "desaster" since it was a remittance work and he was really fine with it.
Before he showed me a similar stone (same price, same size and cut and color) without the setting, I held it with tweezers, looked at it as it lay there and could not find the fire & life I desire!
He did not cash me back, I have a credt for the ring.
He did not charge a single cent for the work he had (the ring was remittance work). This relieves me a lot! I expected I would have to pay for the remittance work, about 150-250 EUR.
The credit is actually fine for me since I have already intended to buy a pair of pink sapphire studs there. They cost approx. the same as the ring did.
The studs will be oval, white gold setting. I told him to make the setting as thin as possible.
I am still a bit excited, since the whole deal is not through yet and the first remittance work was a desaster. From my feeling I can tell it is the right decision to get the sapphires from the goldsmith. I have seen the pair, the color is what I had been looking for.
For comparison: I only found one pair at Tiffany's - well online. I did not like the
setting (Elsa Peretti) which I think is perfect for diamonds. There is not a single pair of these tiffany's ear studs available in Europa. The saleswoman said it isn't in fashion over here. So I would have had to buy them unseen.
Pease, keep your fingers crossed, so everything works out fine in the end and I will write to you soon with a lovely pair of pink sappires studs!
You can bet you will see the pics! 2 weeks from today they will be ready to be collected.
greetings,

PS: I will meet my bestfriend for lunch, she will be really surprised when she hears the news.
