I actually love the halo, and love the option of having earrings with and without halo, I would not reset earrings, since nothing really could compare to platinum setting. Try moissanite. I recently got my first piece and enjoy the sparkle.

Have you considered buying a cheaper yellow gold earring with a lab diamond or a zircon to work out whether it actually is your colour ?
