Thank you so much! You guys are awesome. I realized now that it was a mistake to pay with cash only (I never pay cash.) I will talk to him tomorrow and keep you updated.

Hopefully you'll get your money back! I completely understand why you paid with cash, it's really awful that you can't trust anybody anymore..

Look for GIA or AGS certified diamonds next time

+1

I hope things work out for the OP. I agree completely about buying stones that are certified by a reputable independent lab such as GIA.

Non-GIA stuff is a bit less expensive, but the problem with buying stuff that is not GIA certified is that all of the specifications for the stone can essentially be some local guy's best estimate. I am sure some places to make a bit more money or to encourage someone purchasing what is in stock are a bit more "Optimistic" about a stone's ratings.

When GIA certifies a stone, it is removed from the setting, they plot the inclusions, and for color grading the stone it is placed upside down (culet upward, resting on its table), on a white surface and they bring out a known master set of stones to compare color.

Most after the fact appraisals are someone's best estimate, and if the earrings, ring, etc are still in their settings that can affect someone's appraisal.

To the OP good luck and I hope things work out.

Hi, yes. Just came back. It was rather unpleasant but I did get all my money back. They did, however, try to convinced me that G color is close to J/K. Sad. Anyway, thank you all for your helpful advice. I definitely went prepared thanks to all of you! :smile1:

That's great news!! I hope you find something that's perfect after everything you've been through! Post up when you find a new pair ☺

SO GLAD. Wow. I honestly did not expect to see you get anything out of this but screwed. But I am relieved they did the right thing.

Online is a good route this time around. What is your budget, and what are your requirements?
