Hi all!
After much saving, I am finally ready to invest in my first designer handbag!
I need help because I think this is such a special purchase, and I want to be happy with my choice and be able to invest in something that I will cherish for years to come!
My only problem is that I am not sure what my first designer purse should be.
I am 20 years old and I am a college student, so I am looking for something that will be easy to carry and won't get in my way while I walk to my classes, work, etc. I know a lot of girls get Louis Vuitton or Balenciaga as their first designer handbag, but I am not very drawn to either (I don't have anything against them, they are just not "me"...is that bad? :shame: ).

I would love to hear your suggestions, and thank you guys in advance for your help!

What kind of colours, shapes do you like? Do you already have a feeling for any certain designer?

Have you got a budget in mind? Are there any particular shapes of bag you know you like or is there any particular use you have in mind for the bag? It's quite difficult to make suggestions without more information but a Chanel woc would be a great start in my opinion :)

I would love to get a Chanel WOC, but I am looking for something that will hold more than just the bare essentials. I like bags that are in in the "tote" category (like the celine luggage) and I prefer structured than slouchy. As for budget, I would say that it is probably $3000

Well what about the Celine Luggage then? Or maybe the Albion by Anya Hindmarch? There's no right or wrong bag to get as your first bag. The key is to get something that you love and will use.

I am still relatively new to bag collection but have bought and sold many bags. The ones that I truly love are:

- Balenciaga City
- Givenchy Small Antigona
- Saint Laurent Small SDJ (just bought it)
- Proenza Schouler Medium PS1
- LV Neverfull MM

I love Chanel and now also own a few pieces, but they are more of weekend outing or special occasion bags to me.

I am more drawn to neutral colors, and particularly bags that have a strap option! I really like Saint Laurent bags

If you like Saint Laurent, why not get something from that brand?

You're young. Get something you'll use a lot within 5 years from now and you're set. Your taste will change again when you're married and have kids. Along the way, you'll find something more. Now, just get what you like and can really use. JMHO.

I would vote for the Saint Lauren Sac Du Jour. it's gorgeous, structured and comes in great colors. I'll also throw in a vote for a Prada double zip tote. I own two and they are absolutely some of my favorite bags.

I'd wait on Chanel. I don't use my Chanel bags as much and I don't see them as workhorse bags. They are beautiful but you have to really want them for them to be "worth" the money.

Bottom line, get a bag you love and will use. have fun shopping!
