So recently I saw the color Vert Yucca and fell in love immediately. I wanted in smaller size non quota bag like mini Evelyne or Geta as I know the resell value is low on green color.
Unfortunately my SA said there isn’t anything available in Vert Yucca. Today she called me and said there is a mini Kelly available with silver hardware. I wasn’t sure if I want to waste the money and quota on this. My BF was hoping to get mini Kelly in Europe with gold hardware for himself this year. So he will need to wait if I get the bag. What should I do? Please help thank you.

It's not the bag you want
so don't buy it
and let it be available to someone who would appreciate it

Is the only reason you're not buying it is because of resale value, but you love it otherwise? If so, and you'd want to use your bag long-term, I'd think about reconsidering the investment angle and taking it.

Reasons being 1) nobody knows if our bags will or won't hold value in the long term, so I personally never bank too much on the, "bag as an investment"-line of thinking. For ex, the people who bought Constances assuming they'd hold parity with Bs and Ks must not be thrilled now that most stores no longer consider them quota bags. For all we know, Hermes will come out with a bag even more exclusive than the B/K and those two will be considered the has-beens. 2) Color trends can be cyclical. Previously "unpopular" vert anise and blue jean are two colors that have seen a resurgence, and recently I've seen boosts in prices for those two colors specifically. 3) Today's hot trendy colors lose favor over time. Etoupe is a good example (no offense, etoupe lovers). I think it got dethroned by craie. 4) Even if you wait and get a "popular" everlasting color, market saturation can drive down those prices. Which is why brown Birkins are also some of the cheapest (thankfully, as that's my fav color family). So yeah, absent maybe black, I've gone down that rabbit hole myself and I've never been able to pinpoint if it's even possible to win in the "which color holds value"-debate. 😄

If Vert Yucca works for your wardrobe and you love it, I say go for it! And then post here so I can swoon over it.

I wouldn't think about the resell value, I would only buy what I love. There's no guarantee your BF can get a Mini Kelly in Europe, so I wouldn't make my decision based on that.
Is the Mini Kelly a bag that works for you? Or would you rather have a bigger bag? If the Mini Kelly works for you and if you love the color with phw, I would go for it.
If the Mini Kelly is a bag that doesn't suit your needs, then I would wait for another bag. What is not available right now, might be available later ;).

I'm a bit confused on this. You want a Vert Yucca bag and are offered a mini Kelly, but you don't want a green mini Kelly because it might be harder to sell than, say, a black mini Kelly? Is the bag for you to wear, or are you looking to sell it?

Then your BF also wants a Vert Yucca mini Kelly but with gold for himself, and is hoping to get that in Europe (I am assuming Paris)? Or he just wants a mini Kelly GHW in any color? How does him buying a mini Kelly for himself affect you buying one for yourself?

I’ll grab it quickly! MK in any colour is very hard to come by (usually with lots of pre-spending and super long wait) and being small and bright is so cute! 💚
OP shops in non-US (Mexico if I remember correctly?) and somehow gets easy access to fantastic bags often. I’m assuming his delemia is purely of the matter of if it’s worth using up one of his two quota bag slots for the year, but I admit that I am also somewhat confused. For me, since I am not a fan of vert yucca, this would be an easy no. I’d wait for one of the originally requested bags in this color if I felt I just wanted a small taste of it in my vast collection.

I'm going to guess you like the color but not enough to have it on a more expensive bag vs a non quota (more casual bag) if that's the case I kinda get you want a fun color occasionally but not as the go to color .... Mk is very hard to come by and in the color you like your sa did good... She would be confused when you refuse the bag but only buy what you love and not "because it was offered" good luck!

If you are buying for yourself perhaps a way to explain it is that you would prefer a more casual bag in this “fun” color. I wouldn’t want a quota bag in a non-neutral as it wouldn’t go with my style and I prefer to spend my money on classics I can wear for the long-term.

If you decline, you should be giving your SA some guidance as to the colors you want in an MK but be prepare to buy if she offers again.

I guess you don't want it, and actually I don't understand whether you're buying for yourself or to resell immediately.
Thank you. I am not reselling immediately for sure. I am not super wealthy so I can’t say I won’t need to resell it down the road. This is why I need to consider it thoroughly.
