For my personal collection, I usually love anything with animals (especially dogs)! I'm also partial to certain artists, Alice Shirley being one of my favorites. "Dans un Jardin Anglais" is a design that I have in several formats and colorways, and I know that it is well-loved by many others.

Then there are certain scarves that I'll see on the Hermes website that actually take my breath away, like "L’Ombre des Pivoines" in the pink colorway did when I first saw it. I gasp every time I look at! I haven't worn it even once, though. This is why I don't fit into any of the three categories @papertiger posted above, haha! I collect because I love having them, and although they mostly stay in their orange boxes, I like to look at them.

It sounds like you fit into C, although you don't trade.

ITA, gasping is a good sign

Great question! It is fun for me as a relatively new scarfie to consider which scarves will be favorites in the years to come. Sometimes it seems to be as particular as colorway, and sometimes it seems as though the overall design is popular. While I enjoy playing this mental game, none of the scarves I’ve bought have been because I think they will be holy grails to an audience bigger than myself. For me it comes down to a mix of color and design, and that intangible quality that makes me fall in love with a scarf. To date, I’ve parted with 4 scarves that perhaps I bought hastily and out of FOMO and decided to frame 1, but otherwise I can say that my entire collection right now is full of scarves I’ll keep forever.

BTW, if you do a search we have plenty of other great scarf threads, including the HG thread and how people curate their scarf collection thread

I have been collecting this scarf in as many colourways as I can for a several years now and I wear them all. Being a Floridian and one who loves not only shells but also the act of shelling...well, this is just perfect to me! It is my all time favorite scarf from Hermes! I wear the black the most, hence the two! Now that I have so many colors, it is harder to add to my collection but still is always exciting to try and find vintage ones in various colourways. This is my collection the most beautiful beauties!! What started as one scarf has now turned into a collectible collection of treasures from the sea...on silk!

Love your collex. I have the reddish orange one. DH bought it for me when I went to work for Royal Dutch Shell & I loved to wear to corporate functions to make a "tongue in cheek" statement although few people ever made the connection...LOL. Your other colourways are so beautiful too.

I had to google "L’Ombre des Pivoines."

Surprising myself in the moment, I also gasped!

It is STUNNING! I never wear mine, but will not give it up. I have the turquoise one w pink flower. I almost feel like a girl playing dressing up because its Just so beautiful so I don’t wear it. I did rehome my ivory one last year and have been ok with that ha
