I'm a teen boy and wear this cute Michael Kors purse (pic below) when I go out and to school, I find them more practical and fashionable than a backpack, etc. I want to know what people think when they see a feminine guy with a purse. Thoughts? gasdga.jpg

I’m old fashioned. I like men to look and dress like men and for women to look and dress like women. Before you say it I’m not sexist as I’ve worked in construction for all my adult life. It’s just a visual thing. The same with bags, I love a man with a bag but not when it’s a feminine style. I don’t want the two separate sexes God created to all morph into one unidentifiable species

There have been several threads on men/boys wearing "ladies" handbags, with the gist of, "I like it, is that strange? And if it is, I don't care." For ex.:

https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/guys-carrying-bags-in-us-are-associated-with-gays-true.424107/
https://forum.purseblog.com/threads...ch-ones-work-and-which-ones-well-dont.810570/

The responses tend to be: You do you.
At your stage of life, this thread might be about more than fashion; your bag is an unconventional enough choice that it suggests you're working on identity, which is the general teenage project.

This forum has many, many threads and posts from transgender, cross-dressing, and non-cis- identifying posters.

I think keeping religious points of view separate from the question is probably a good thing.

Frankly, my opinion would depend on the whole look and whether it works, just as it would with a woman. Like many of us here, I love style and aesthetics and am constantly looking at people on the street and forming opinions about fashion choices. Your question suggests that people might react negatively to uncommon choices, but I personally love them—when they are done well—just as I love a very classic look—when, and only when, it is done well. You enjoy carrying a bag. I know you are young, but I suggest you work on owning that and then use TPF as a resource to help you refine and improve your look, as many of us have.

My first reaction is there’s a guy who knows what he likes. Second, I look at the bag like I would if a gal was carrying a bag I like. It’s easy for me to say I know but try not to worry about what other people think. Be yourself and wear what you like. People shouldn’t worry about what you wear. If they have an issue then they need to cope with it not you. You aren’t in their space or hurting them so wear what you want. Not their business what you wear just like it’s not your business what they wear. Again, all of that is easy for me to say but if you were my son, brother, pupil, that is just the beginning of what I’d tell you. Just be you.
I agree that a bag is more practical than a backpack, at least for me. (and your bag is really cute)

I don't really think much about it. If anything, I think it is amazing that the person is wearing what he wants to wear despite what other people might think. If I like his bag or his outfit, I might compliment him the same way I would anyone else.

Life is far too short and serious, we have to find and keep the joy where we can. I hope that you will always do the best in life to find and keep yours.

So in short, proudly and happily wear whatever you'd like!
