Are you asking with regards to melt value? If you mean as jewelry, there won’t be a big difference in devaluation.
One feature to consider is that when you polish platinum you won’t lose any material whereas gold will be lost with each polish. Therefore if you wish to keep a like new finish you might be better off getting platinum since you can keep getting it re-polished without worry.
It’s worth it to me if I can wear it all the time, which would mean its durable and low maintenance, it gives me a thrill whenever I put it on, and that my daughter appreciates so I can pass it down to her. This results in mostly classic diamond pieces and VCA.
Jewelry that is set of made in a classic design with above 18kt gold and certified diamonds. My favorite piece I own is definitely my cartier bangle. Next would be my diamond bracelets. I have a bangle and a tennis bracelet. I know I’ll never outgrow them. And then I think it’s worth it when a piece of jewelry speaks to you, for me it’s arrow jewelry.
A piece that reflects your personality and style that you will wear a lot. If it’s something that I cannot replace, then it’s personal value to me increases. i once had a large carved silver ring with tassels (I know my description sounds awful, but it’s something that I would have grown into and worn today) that was stolen in college in 1987, and I spent decades looking for something similar.
