If this has been addressed in another thread, please let me know with a link to that thread. I would like to learn what you have had covered under Coach's famous warranty...I'm rediscovering the brand and department store SAs keep talking about how great the warranty is, but my impression from reading here is that unless the repair is very specific (missing turnlock, broken hardware, missing strap) that I may have to settle for a coupon toward a future purchase. I have a vintage bag I sent in that I suspect I may never see again...was purchased secondhand but NIB and had cracked and peeling glue behind an internal leather pocket. That's all I needed fixed and I was afraid to try cleaning it up myself.

Is dye transfer covered by the warranty? This I'm concerned about because I just bought a Poppy sunflower leather tote and I mentioned dye/denim transfer to the SA at Macy's, who said Coach would repair that. Elsewhere in TPF somebody mentioned that the Poppy leather is pre-treated against rain. Should I buy some Coach Leather Cleaner? I have Leather CPR cleaner/conditioner but I am not sure this waxed Poppy leather should be conditioned.

These are the questions that make me return new bags after second-guessing the problems I might have...and then retreating to my Cordura laptop bag for work and ogling all the gorgeous leather bags I see around me. Argh.

Is dye transfer covered by the warranty? This I'm concerned about because

this is not a defect in the bag.. its wear they bag with dark clothes... which has nothing to do with the function of the bag.
User error.

I would search for the forum for "dye transfer" see what you can find...
I dont think its going to come off without seeing it, but some members might have a suggestion for you..
I see a lot of bags on ebay with this issue.. So that being said its not a warranty issue.

I agree

From Coach website:
Coach products are made to ensure satisfaction and service for the natural life of the product. If, during its lifetime, your item should require repair, we offer a repair service for many of our products. There is a shipping and handling charge of $20 (plus tax, where applicable) for each item submitted for repair.

I've personally found the most dept store SA's are not well versed in what Coach will and will not do.

I don't think it's a warranty. It's more of a guarantee of satisfaction, that the bag is well made with good craftmanship, without defects, and will wear well for the normal life of the bag. Usually defects in the hardware, peeling leather, etc. are covered.

Denim transfer is definitely user error, not a manufacturer's defect.
I wouldn't use the Coach cleaner on your bag, unless the care card specifically said it could be used, because it's been known to remove the color on some bags.

I have some patent peeling off around the handles on my Kristin hobo from a few years ago. Would Coach repair this as part of their warranty? I would hate to send it in and tell me it's not covered.

Thanks

I doubt they could fix that. How?

If they can't fix something what happens? Do they give you a replacement?

I have heard if you take the bag back unrepaired they give you a 40 % off coupon or if you don't want the bag back they give you the full retail value in merch credit.

This is wear and tear not a defect in the way the bag was made. The bag functions they way it should.
I don't believe color transfer is "warranty" nor defected bag

Can't wait to see how this turns out
( no refund/credit given)

I was responding to the question about peeling patent, not color transfer.

My bronze drawstring Marielle has a faded spot right on the front and the strap on my embossed studded bronze Alexandra has faded on the underside. I know they can't be repaired, but what will my options probably be once I send them in? TIA for your response(s)!

The warranty doesn't cover normal use. Many people seem to want to use the bag for a while then send it in and get a new one or their money back. The other issue is, lifetime of the product. Not lifetime (as in forever) or lifetime of the person (maybe another 70, 80 90 years). Saying a handbag has a five or six year lifetime seems generous to me.
