What is a cocktail ring?

I love cocktail rings. They're so fun and, really, anything goes! I have found that a lot of the TV shopping networks (QVC, ShopNBC websites) have great selections of rings with larger semi-precious gemstones and their prices are great too.

Kenneth Jay Lane is the classic costume jewelry maker and makes some fun cocktail rings. The rings are about $75-100, butI have seen them on sale and on bluefly.
