Hi! My 13 y/o DD will be graduating from middle school on June 23rd (the graduation will be indoors). It's getting close. What do people usually wear to graduation as guests? I'm new to this. Which H bags will be appropriate? Any outfit ideas? Do I have to dress formal? If I take my B25, will people likely stare at me?

Last year I had two of my kids graduations (MS and HS) and took black box bolide 27. It felt appropriate and allowed me to still have an H moment ;) I wore a long flowery skirt and a white shirt. Of course it varies with your school setting, neighborhood, etc, but mine were not very formal...

Thank you, I was thinking of wearing white linen (maybe a dress, maybe a dark colored tee and a linen skirt). The other graduations I've been to (Elementary, Pre-k) were all outdoors, so no one really dressed up. My Bolide is a bit heavy for me at the moment, so I am trying to find an alternative.

Looking under the radar usually seems best
Thank you for the advice, so I was thinking about maybe wearing my Kelly Danse with the metal facing inwards.

it depends on the demographic of the families at that school
you do not wish to embarrass your DD
so wear something which will not be recognisable
Thanks. The demographics vary within the school community, but I have seen moms carrying the C18, Lindy, Picotin, and ML. My Clic 16 crossbody was my initial choice, but I need something not too heavy, but big enough to hold my DD's small presents so I'm leaning towards the KD2 (worn with the HW facing my body)

The day is about your lovely DD and her classmates. Go with appropriate, however you define that from previous interactions at school. Congrats to your family!
Yes, it is. That's why I wanted to make sure my outfit/ bag looks presentable in our photos! I usually don't care how I dress.

Congratultions on this wonderful milestone! Perhaps use prior events like school plays, assemblies and concerts as your guide to what stylish parents might wear to graduation. I find each school climate has its own unspoken kind of rule about these things. Where my kids went to school, nice bags were commonplace and no one would have inappropriately stood out wearing one, and no one would have judged if you didn't. Where my niece attends school, mom's seem to prefer a much quieter look without any obvious logos etc. Either way, I am sure you will look beautiful and the day will be filled with wonderful memories! Enjoy!!

Do you have any school mom friends you can ask what they plan on wearing? My daughter is also having a milestone graduation this year and I plan on wearing a springy sun dress and probably bringing a mini kelly.

I bring my B/K bags to school events all the time... but there are other moms carrying those type of bags to school functions at my daughters' school so I'm not self conscious about them. I don't think you have to turn the hardware around on your Kelly danse. Just be natural, wear it and enjoy the moment!

I mentioned above about seeing C18, Lindy, Evies and Picotins during school events. Those are the school mom friends.:giggle: I'm not quite sure if that's the norm.

Oh got it! I couldn't tell from your earlier post if these were just other moms you see at school or actual friends.... but sounds like your kelly danse would fit right in! I wouldn't stress about it!

Maybe things are dressier outside of cities, not sure. In this economy, I would probably wear trousers and a light sports coat or a basic spring dress*. The equivalent of DH wearing a sports coat; dress shirt; and trousers. Which is what I might normally wear to school recitals; plays.

When I had to attend these occasions in parental garb (private school UES and UWS and Ivy League university), honestly parents weren’t the main focus and didn’t get all decked out. Middle school and High school girls were a different story lol

My h bags are more under the radar than those of many members here, but I’d recommend a simple leather rather than an exotic, PHW instead of GHW. Just my personal preference

*eta: if you want more granular detail, I would suggest Akris or Brunello Cuchinelli separates in taupe, gray, navy.

If school moms typically carry H bags, and you are concerned, then go with whatever the basic type of dress code they wear. Even if you wear a BKC, people will be focused on taking pics of their kids. No one will be focused on other stuff :)
