What do you think of Gucci Silver jewelry?

I used to live in Florence for years and one of my best friends there runs a generations-old small family business manufacturing silver pieces. Their main client is Gucci. Gucci subcontracts its jewellery with all these local traditional producers. The quality is excellent.

Thanks for the info doni. Do you know if this is still the case? Not that I doubt it if it still holds true but Kering say to their SAs all Gucci is made in house now.

When I see Gucci gold and silver pieces I can see immediately they're from Florence (in house or not) for me it's the most concentrated jewellery making centre in the world that produces the very best.

Honestly, I would have to ask my friend as it is not something I have discussed for ages! But it certainly used to be that way at least.

In the meantime, I have found this:

All Gucci jewelry production is undertaken in Italy and the pieces are manufactured by renowned Italian goldsmiths located in the north of the country, where generations of master craftsmen have perfected their art over time. Gucci production is carried out within a network of laboratories, one of which is company owned.

Each jewel in the Gucci Fine Jewelry Collection is individually checked by Gucci quality control inspectors. Gucci oversees quality control for 100% of its production.

That sounds they keep with specialists (which traditionally Gucci has always done). Thanks for taking the trouble doni
