If you have a clothing item that you've owned for less than, let's say two months, and you've only worn it a couple of times...if you notice that stitching is coming undone, a small hole in a seam, anything one might consider "defective" or not the result of wearing the item only a couple times...what do you do? Chalk it up as a loss or take it back to the store for your $$ back?

I usually always just suck it up and keep the item, because I hate returning things. What do you all do?

this has never happened to me, but i wouldn't take it back to the store after 2 months. if it was within a month, then maybe i would. i hate returning things too so i just make it work.

This happens to me every once in awhile.. depends on the store i guess. If it were somewhere i shopped often then i'd mention it the next time i went in to shop just to see what they would say. There's one store I go to a lot and once they told me to bring the shirt back in and they would give me credit. But for the most part I suck it up too..

Depends on where I got it from. If it is from say...forever 21, Old Navy etc....I would probably throw it away. If it is more expensive but from a store with a strict return policy, I would take it to be repaired at my seamstress. If it is expensive and from a place like Nordstrom and I know they stand by their products, I would take it to the store for an exchange or refund.

I agree with this post!

I hate to return too, but hen something is defective I try to get the balls to return it.. the 2 times I've done it (1 with a purse, 1 a top) the SA's have said "we've never had this problem before etc. etc. do you want to exchange it for another?" Of course not -not if it's a piece of crap!

Depends how much it cost, if it was a $3,000 Rick Owens leather jacket then damn right I'd be taking it back and at the very least I'd expect a repair. If it was a $10 tee then it would get chucked

I agree. Personally, I expect a very different level of quality/service from a cheapie store like H&M or Forever 21 than I would a department store or designer boutique. Of course, it would also depend on the "defect." If a button came loose, I would fix it myself, assuming I hadn't lost the button. If, say, it got a hole, or was damaged in the wash even though I followed the label instructions, I might take it back and complain.

I agree. It depends. I once bought a silk blouse that I loved and after I wore it twice, the fabric frayed and it got a hole in it. It was not repairable due to the location of the hole. I took it back. I wanted another one but I couldn't get it. Another time, I bought a Vince sweater and it got a hole in the armpit after one wear. But it was on the seam so I had it fixed. If I bought a cheap item, I would be more forgiving but it depends on what it is.

I would suck it up. Most my clothes aren't too expensive, so I wouldn't be losing a lot. And the customer service here is kind of sucky, I don't think they would do a lot to help me.

Depends on the clothing. A pair of jeans that blows out within a week, yes. A tee shirt? Nope. I'd sew that sucker right up!

I just found a hole in one of my favorite tops. I'm going to go find a satin rose at Joanne's to sew over it. I generally try to repair or disguise defects.
