What determines Outlet Stock?

Recently, I went on a vacation to Key West and noticed there was a Coach Outlet there. I went in and noticed that they had this WALL of retail items: Dinky, Rogues, Market Totes, Charlie Carryalls, Parkers, etc. I was lucky enough to pick up the Callie Ombre Snakeskin Clutch for 60% off (if I wasn't flying I would've grabbed more).

However, my local Outlet HARDLY gets any retail items, except the occasional that are online like the Swagger and Cooper. It made me wonder what determines an outlet's stock? Is it based on the location? My Outlet is about 15-30 minutes away from a Retail Coach store so I always wondered if that's the reason they do not fill the outlet with retail items.

If anyone has any insight that would be awesome. If anyone is heading to the Florida Keys soon go to the Key West Outlet!
I’ll be in Key West in Dec. Thanks for the heads up!

So true! Tier 1 stores receive the best deletes and also usually have the full line of regular outlet collections (all the items). Lower tier stores sometimes do not receive the full collections like the Disney, PAC-man, etc.... that’s why some stores have certain items and others don’t.
Is there a way to find out which stores are tier 1?

I think they go by demographics. In san diego county there are two outlets - one near the mexican border that has less expensive bags. and one in north county coastal area that has higher end bags as well as some outlet bags. I got a Borough bag at that one but you'd never see one of those at the san ysidro store.
Honestly I could see that for my outlet, too. My outlet is ALWAYS packed because it's located in a tourist destination so I couldn't imagine it being anything lower than Tier 1. However we hardly get deletes or transfers.

I wonder how the cypress outlets at Katy TX are, being more than an hour away from me and with 2 kids i can only go like 2 a year but im curious to know about the deletes and found orderes, i think i read on the outlets thread someone said that they weren’t very nice at helping out with found orders?

Before you make the trip I would call and ask to speak with a manager. During the conversation I would ask Mgr if they could look up found order over the phone. I have done many times and even asked for details about the locations.

Isn't it proximity to a large city or JAX?

From what I can tell from the outlet spy pics thread all the the good stuff is near big cities or shopping areas (Like NYC, Chicago, Boston, Las Vegas) or near Jacksonville in Florida where the Coach warehouse is. I think the large cities have larger stock in store so they send to the local outlet store whereas the warehouse also has unsold stock too.

Okay I’m sure you get some pretty good deals with the retail bags getting to the outlets. But isn’t it easier to check the end season sales in December or Maybe June and July in retail stores or department stores like Macy’s or similar?

Or the the outlet still get the better prices ?
I’ve never been to a Coach factory store or an MK outlet store so I Wonder is it really better the outlet store price or wait for the end season sales?

Personally I prefer to wait for end season sales but maybe I’m missing something really good with the outlet deletes as you guys call them
