What designer bags have you bought on reseller sites?

All of my luxury handbags are secondhand. What can I say? I’m a teacher with expensive taste.

I’ve bought from eBay, Poshmark, and TheRealReal. I won’t buy from Poshmark again as I started to see way too many fakes and shipping is too slow. Same with eBay. I just stick with TheRealReal. They’re not perfect, but it’s what I’m used to.

Everytime I get ready to buy via Fashionphile, I stop myself. I can’t explain it.

I don’t resell any bags. All are bought for my personal use I used to consign some that I tired of, but found it to be more trouble than it’s worth. I do gift to family or friends, as I am pretty satisfied that I’ve gotten sufficient cost per wear. If I haven’t, then I’ve made a mistake, and I simply try not to make such a mistake going forward.

ETA: I would not buy any bag that isn’t structurally sound and that cannot be refurbished to the standard of well maintained classic. Sometimes that means H Spa; sometimes third party professional; sometimes both (as H spa will not lighten handles or clean interiors or mitigate sun damage). So, even though I’ve gotten deals, I spend quite a bit on upkeep.

I love deals and buy 80% preloved. Mr. Sparkle utterly refuses to buy anything that isn’t new from the boutique. As a result, my collection is about 50/50 bought new vs preloved.

I’ve bought from a variety of places: Fashionphile, Yoogi’s Closet, Ann’s Fabulous Finds, TheRealReal, Boutique Patina, Rebagg, Brandoff, Poshmark, eBay, Vestiaire, etc.

I find the best combination of quality control & service at Fashionphile, Yoogi’s, Ann’s FF and Boutique Patina.

I try to avoid individual sellers due to super fakes and general lackadaisical sales approaches (like poor descriptions and poor packaging) so I’m not crazy about Poshmark, Vestiaire, eBay, etc. And, I refuse to buy through TheRealReal ever again as their grading of condition, specs and measurements are always off. Plus their customer service is terrible and most items are not returnable. Just no!

Unless I’m absolutely desperate for a rare bag, I only buy preowned with excellent or like new condition. I just relearned this lesson last week when I stupidly broke my rule and ended up with a yuck bag that I now have to off load. Never again!

25% off is my minimum discount or I’ll just buy new. 8-10+ years ago before influencers changed the market, I could find deals for up to 80% off.

There's no real winning when it comes to selling to resale sites, unless perhaps you're selling Hermes/Chanel. Surprisingly, I had a higher quote from Bag Borrow Steal than a couple others for my last bags. Still painfully low in comparison to what I paid though.

Oooooh! Love this topic. I started buying bags on the resale market in 2021 and haven't turned back LOL! This was when luxury live streams really started blowing up and I was properly influenced. I generally prefer vintage styles but was always scared to buy them before. But now, I have my trusted sellers and it's a problem!! LOL. I only have three bags I purchased in the boutique--my Mono Speedy 2 and my Damier Speedy 25B, and a Gucci Ophidea Pouch/Clutch that I love!

They are not necessarily the cheapest on the platform, but the condition is always excellent, and they have unicorn finds, and 5-star reviews. I trust that these sellers are selling 100% authentic bags. I have gotten great deals when I shop their live shows.

I was so close to buying an Epi Green Alma from Brandshop (above) on Poshmark yesterday but I need to slow down! I'd also like an Epi Green Saint Jacques, and a Mono Papillon.

Also seeing pics, I need more color in my Collection. I have more color in my contemporary brand bag Collection--mostly Coach, and a couple Brandon Blackwoods.

I bought just before Xmas a gorgeous Gucci Soho Disco for AUD $855/USD $560 from Adriana Pre-loved luxe.
They are from New Zealand and ship to Australia for free, they are on the smaller side of the consignment shops around, but their prices and condition of items on most pieces are to die for!

Saint Laurent on therealreal, for less than half of what it originally went for at retail (I think from 1800ish to 800ish), primarily because it wasn't a particularly in demand style and because TRR did one of their insane huge price drops on it. Although the international shipping/tax/customs fees on top added a fair amount. I've heard horror stories but I had zero issues, and had the bag independently authenticated twice when it arrived. It arrived within 3 days, in the original box with the ribbon, tissue paper, dust bag, and all the various booklets/cards/etc.

I tried VC but kept getting payment errors (that PayPal and my bank checked and assured were nothing to do with them) and VC's customer service was woeful so I never bothered again.
