What D&B bags are still made in the USA?

Hello to eeveryone!
Thanks to all for the kind words. The buyer placed a complaint and I had pics that showed the excellent/new condition. I told Poshmark I was sorry the item did not work for the buyer and for them to start the return process.
I had my closet open on and off for about 8 weeks the last 12 months. I have now closed, but sold mostly NWT items.
I don't want issues with a buyer. I have had two returns out of 150 items. I will find out the condition tomorrow when it is to returned.
Hand over heart, I debated about keeping it and tried it on 2-3 times before I listed it. Between taking pics, checking measurements, inspecting, folding and packing for shipment, wrapping in white tissue... you would think I would spot a broken zipper. Besides, every time I tried it on 1) unzipped to take it off the hanger, 2) zipped it up for try on 3) unzipped for back on the hanger and 4) zipped it back up once on the hanger. So tried it on 2-3 times = 8- 12 zipper uses and somehow I sold a jacket with a broken zipper(!?!)
I did a little sleuthing the two times I had returns. I won't bore you with the details, but it is clear they have one set of rules when they buy from others and a whole new set of rules when they are doing the selling.
I try to stay polite in the hope that my NWT items don't come back ruined. Fingers crossed.

Here is my other related post

I bought a lot of my Florentine Satchels in the Dooney retail boutique (years ago). Most of them were not made in the USA. Very few, all small satchels, never other sizes, were
Made in USA. I always looked for the tag.

A number of years ago there was a line of small Flo satchel styles done in
Samba leather (a soft pebbled leather). They were available at the outlets and
on ILD. They were Made in USA.

There are no rules to tell by style or sales channel.
Only the serial # and country of origin tag are 'proof'.

For the Florentine small satchels, the ones I've seen Made in USA have
a red leather interior collar under the zipper and red leather backing
the tassels. The ones made in other countries have green suede in
these places.
Good info LJ! I've read from collectors posts regarding the serial numbers that USA made begin with A & B and that China begins with J. That's all I have to go by.

Yes, the first letter of the serial # indicates the country of origin for Dooney bags.
I haven't seen A, but B was on my made in USA bags. I is for Italy, where the
Alto collection is made. And other letter are used for other countries around the world.
We should compile a list.

So far I’ve found -

A & B - USA
C - Costa Rica
I - Italy
H, J, K - China
K - Philippines
M - Mexico
V - Vietnam

I found it interesting China was not mentioned - which takes up quite a bit of serial numbers. Tsk tsk

Now England was a surprise. I did some snooping, and the only thing I found was suspenders. Which are a vintage item, as that’s what D&B started off selling.

This video is older, but there’s a recent comment from a few months ago asking how to find the made in US bags. The YT’er responded saying that she used to be able to type in the search bar on Dooney “made in USA” and the bags would come up.

Great topic! I love getting more knowledge about Dooney’s. Here are 2 photos of my made in America satchel that I purchased about 5 years ago, I believe from ILoveDooney. It sold for around $150 (those days are gone, ammirite?). Notice the red leather collar and the red underneath the tassels. The red leather on the collar is amazingly soft and pliable so it did develop a beautiful “smile” and the red on the underside of the tassels is not suede but the same leather that’s on the collar. The Florentine leather is thick and smooth and smells amazing! I feel blessed to own this bag. It also has a tag inside that says make in USA, hope this helps someone!
oops, forgot to add that yes, that was a sale price, the original price was $368!

I know that some preferred the green suede collar on Florentine bags to the
red leather. But I liked the red leather better, or a leather that matched
the color of the bag. I was never a fan of the green suede in a handbag
with a red cotton lining. Green and red together just didn't work for me.
Of course, even if I liked the green suede better, I would still have
opted for a Made in USA bag if I could get one.
And if the Made In USA bags have a white/tan or white/red woven
lining, so much the better. I prefer those woven linings to the
solid red.

Now were you able to choose the MIA bag, or is that what they send you? I saw some comments on YT videos saying that there was a time you could search Dooney & ILD specifically for MIA, but it looks like it's gone now.

Thank you for the info. Your bag is beautiful! Is the whole inside of your bag that red leather too? I was looking on Goodwill, and saw a MIA florentine. The leather looks so smooth on it, compared to the other flo satchels - thanks for confirming this too.
