What Bags do You Wear for Summer Dresses?

I know it's only April, but in the upper hemisphere and I am already itching for summer to get here and buying summer dresses! :cool: I got a pretty number today that I plan to wear to a wedding on a Beach but rummaging through my bags, I can't think of one that would go well with it!

I'm going to start looking for one now...something soft and cross-body and small...any suggestions?

What bags do you guys wear with your summer dresses?
Pictures are, of course, more than welcome!

I usually carry canvas totes (Marimekko, Peak Performance, DKNY Jeans), I also have a flower print old rose pink cotton bucket bag and am thinking that I might get me a Longchamp Le Pliage Cuir Mini in a bright color. The leather is soft and the design simple, and it can double as a clutch for evenings out as well. :yes:

I love wearing my almond RB mini mac during the spring and summer months. It's a great color, convenient size and goes with all my colorful, summary dresses. It can look casual, but definitely can be dressed up as well.

This Eva cluch DE is great for any season IMO but just go with your style and anything you like will do just shop away fallow your instinct :smile1:

I wear my silver snakeprint embossed leather Gianni Chiarini (Italian brand) crossbody bag. I love it - it's lightweight, practical yet chic and it goes with everything. Here's a picture of from my blog:

I wear shoulder hobos (usually BV or Gucci) on fair weather days, but if it's really sunny (as in calls for suncream) I'll carry top-handles, because creams can destroy the stitching on straps, I also prefer non-X-overs with tunic dresses (my personal favourite style) or loose fitting dresses because then the line is not ruined

I'll be wearing my gucci Flora too this Spring/Summer, I cannot wait! :sunshine:

I think good bags for light colored outfits are less structured and warm-toned. On a daily basis I carry a black bag, since my outfits are darker and more serious. But in the summer I do have lots of white, blue, and floral softer dresses that look better with a warm brown bag (a good casual bag is the Marc by Marc Jacobs Baby Aidan), or for a dressier occasion, I wear an oversized taupe leather clutch. Black is too harsh for these outfits, I think. I'd stick to bags that are brown or light-colored, and not super structured, depending on your outfit.

For a wedding, I'd do a mini bag with a shoulder strap or a nice clutch.

Thanks guys for all the suggestions, examples, and photos. I shall begin my hunt with your ideas in mind! If anyone has more photos of summer dresses and bags, keep 'em comin'. I love eye candies :)
