I love Miu Miu, but the quality and the low resale value of the bag makes me unwilling to pay $1k+ for it. I have 2 pre-loved Miu Miu bags and lots of pre-loved flats, though.

I would also not pay full price for a Chloe since those seem to go for really cheap on eBay...

Actually, I haven't paid full price for a bag over $1k yet! But I'm planning on splurging on a limited edition Bal that seems to not be available on eBay yet...

Pretty much anything that goes on sale. The only bags I pay full price for are those classic styles/brands in classic colours that are known never to go on sale. All others I wait for.
I never buy on eBay or second hand though. Always new through reputable retailers I just wait until sale time.

Fabric tote bags.
Loves me some lightweight, washabe sacks with handles!:D

Has become my goal to acquire these free.
So have ecclectic collection, with assorted company logos/products.
Which continually rotate into trash bin, as destroy them heartlessly with hard use.

I constantly must remind myself that leather tote style handbags I own were NOT free.
So shouldn't be dragged along ground or dropped onto muddy concrete.
Sometimes forget. :(

I never pay full price for anything. It's either a sale item or preloved that gets me - with the prices gettng even more ridiculous all the time, I just simply cannot justify getting a purse or anything else at full price.

Balenciaga. I can't get myself to pay full-price on their bags when I can find a similar style that's more affordable and better quality in pre-loved condition. The only time I actually paid full price was a Bal wallet. I always wanted a City but there is no way I can justify paying nearly $2000 on it, when I can score a preloved one that's under $1000. I've seen the newer Bals at Nordstrom and the leather looks too papery and dry feeling to me. The older Bals are so much better!

Mỹ motto is never ever pay full price for anything, but most especially a depreciable asset. wait for a sale, and if it doesn't go on sale, that brand is not worth having my business

I just counted and 40% of my bags were purchased new. I only paid full price for one ($1900) and it's the biggest regret I have.

Echoing Amazona and imigratty, I just don't see a reason to buy a bag full price. I'm not so enamored of any special seasonal or limited price bag to justify it. Plus I'm just too changeable. Few bags are going to make me happy for years. And even those (Chanel, etc.) I can buy like new preowned cheaper than in the boutique.

I also agree with the OP about resale. I sell my bags when I lose interest so I try to buy them with the best discount possible so I can recoup $$ when I want to flip them.

I never buy any clothing, shoes, or bags at retail price. Most of my bags and clothes are pre loved and the few that aren't were deeply discounted. I couldn't afford to buy many nice things if I paid retail, so I'm willing to put up with the drawbacks of used items (small scuffs, signs of wear) and sale items.

Having said that, I can say that my older coach bags from the 80s & 90s are fantastic, with far nicer leather than they use on their newer bags.

Burberry, Mulberry (love the full price stuff but the ones I like seem to never be on sale when I'm looking), Longchamp, Coach. If it goes on sale I won't buy it full price, because I can wait a couple months for the price to drop.

I think I own 3 bags I bought at full price. Out of all the bags I have, that's around 7%. One Longchamp, a Peak Performance beach tote and a Lumi Supermarket bag.

Most of the time, I sell bags for the same amount or even more money I pay for them. Haggle when you buy, don't when you sell. Just made an 80% profit on an item.

Oh yes, so true - def feels great...plus it has the added bonus of bragging rights. :graucho: Some male friends of mine slam my bag hobby, lovingly though, and I love it when I can tell them I just made a great investment or sale. Always warms the ol' heart to see them lost for words! :lawl:

I change my mind a lot so Idk if I could ever have the balls to pay full price for any premiere designer bag for fear of losing interest in it after purchasing. I have to REALLY lust for it. But I guess Louis Vuitton speedy B... I couldn't pay full price for it even though I think its super gorgeous.

+1, I could sell most of my bags for the same price or more, because I would never get suckered into paying full price...esp on a bag that is nowhere near worth the full retail value.

not to mention the materials and quality of many of these items is not worth the over inflated price tag. and many brands have drastic annual price increases, and never go on sale, while the quality does not improve. To me, I feel like they have no respect for their customers.
