A previous member on a different thread mentioned that the Hermes Tarmac Passport Holder is a little tight for a large US passport book. Do you happen to know if this means it is tight but works or tight and doesn't work/snap?

Most passports adhere to ISO 7810, or B7 size. Biggest difference is number of pages and security features.

I do have a tarmac in chèvre mysore and my US passport fits in it comfortably and snaps. A more rigid leather might take a bit more wiggling since the tarmac is just an envelope. But a US passport does fit and snap.

Personally, I use a H Globe Trotter Zipper. It’s sold as an agenda, but the passport fits perfectly in the back pocket, it’s got card slots and I don’t worry as much about losing anything with the zipper.
