Hey all! Well, I'm still quite new to the whole LV line, as I got my first bag 2 weeks ago (my idylle speedy ). Since following TPF for a little bit, I keep reading here and there about how certain colors/lines might not be part of their permanent rotation.

As I have started noticing some beautiful bags (that I really wish I had the option to buy ) that I no longer see on the LV website, just wondering how this all works. Is this something they tell us in advanced or do they suddenly take these lines away and we miss our chances? What are considered their "limited edition" pieces currently?

Anyways, if there's already a thread on this, feel free to point the way =) Otherwise, I posted this in the general forum, as I'm not too sure where this belongs.

Insight is appreciated! :D

Good question, I'm curious as well as to how it works. Also noticed some of the LV bags missing from the website..

I think if you do a search and don't find the bag then they are probably not selling it anywhere for the time being. The search finds out of stock bags as well so its not just a case of selling out online.

Well, I guess I not just mean online, but in stores as well. Like for example, a lot of the LE pieces, or other lines in very specific colors that I do not see on sale anymore; how do you know that they're going to take that line away? IE: the cherry blossom series. That probably came out a while back, but did the line come in with people knowing it was going to be phased out?

Anyways, I'd just like to know so I can plan out my next bag purchase, in at least 1 year :crybaby: However, if it were an "investment" piece, I could probably reason to get it sooner, rather than later :yahoo:

lines like the cherry blossom are seasonal, limited edition lines. if you go to the reference library -limited edition runway bags by season http://forum.purseblog.com/limited-edition-runway-bags-by-season/, all these bags listed here are/were only available in stores for one season, and stop selling after the season is over. this is something that is known, and not something that lv springs on its customers.

others bags, like the alma bb pomme last year, is not a seasonal LE, but lv tells its customers that it will not be a part of the permanent collection. so this bags is likely to be available for only a certain amount of time (6mths, a year, 2 years, differs depending on the bag, but usually longer than one season). for these it's less clear exactly when lv will stop selling them from the get-go, but rather people will find out more information as that date approaches.

Yes. If it is an LE it will be made in a certain quantity...usually 250,500,1000, or 2500 total pieces of each style in the line. Like 500 Speedy's, 500 Key/Change Holders...all from that LE line.

However, Runway bags can be different. The Monogram Irene for example was only made in a run of 500...(it may have even been 250)...but that was it for the Irene.

I would say for an investment bag...go for the Fleur de Jais Speedy. OR...Cosmic Blossom may prove to be worth alot in the future. :)

thanks lovebeibei for this info!! This was quite informative and answered my question perfectly :)

Thanks for the suggestions! I will look into this lol. I love reasons for intensive research :)

When new bags come in the SA's will usually tell you if it's permanent or not. You can pretty much tell if its LE or not. Anything in the normal canvases with additional designs on them are usually LE so get them when you can.

im liking the courtney right now b/c its big enough for EVERYTHING and i know i can use it for a lifetime, still deciding on it another trip to LV and "we'll see", and i quote...:graucho:

Can you really consider these bags "investment" pieces? An investment to me is when you put your money on something that will potentially appreciate in time...like when you invest in stocks or even jewelry. Won't these bags in time, no matter how limited they are, sell for below its retail price? :confused1:

thats why i do both!:D, i love fine jewelry!

lol hilarious!

i do agree with babielovah, i would hope a good investment LV piece would increase in value over time, either through limited quantities produced and continuing high demand. But as a lot seem to point out, even their LE pieces are reissued every so often, thus quelling the demand.

I realize that it probably is not very likely to invest in a bag now and hope it is worth more in the future, but I would hope it could at least retain most of its value, if not all of it. Ergo, more reason to invest in LV rather than other brands because i am constantly reading about how LVs are lasting people decades! :)

I guess the question is not just an 'investment' piece, but also something everyone thinks might have potential to be something timeless (other than speedy) and in demand.
