ok they had an affair in the 70s.....so? LMAO

and I had no idea that Ms. Walters liked...chocolate! :graucho:

so... he was married to someone who likely thought she was in a monogamous relationship w/ someone she loved. If DH and I divorced and I found out later he's cheated I'd be devastated, as I know his parents and our children would be too.

What a ho!

I don't understand why she felt the need to blab about this now :shrugs:

She didn't strike me as one of those celebrities who's desperate for attention, but I can't see why else she'd do this, except maybe to boost ratings for the View...

I had always credited her with having a little more class than that. Even if she had made the mistake of having an affair, I would have thought she could be trusted to keep a secret a secret. I guess for this journalist, NOTHING is off the record. My opinion of her has definitely gone down.

I agree that for some reason this makes me sad.

I also grew up with a sister that everyone made fun of for her disabilities ( there are three of us) - and they really did - the 2nd graders made fun of her when she was in sixth grade because it was "accepted" to do so until they found out I was her sister (in 2nd grade) and they felt bad. My even younger sister's classmates never felt bad about making fun of our older sister at the bus-stop. We were probably like Babs until we were about 20. I know my best friend in life even commented that we were mean to her. The problem was that she has severe Asperger's Syndrome ( and probably beyond that - somewhere between Asperger's and Autistic - which was just called "weird" back then) before there was a definition of Asperger's Syndrome. We both feel guilt about it but we've tried to make it up to her since then.

Of course this is about 40 years later so maybe the situation was different. I don't know.

But beyond the crying about it now and not having done something about it years ago, why come out with her affair now?? What purpose does it serve??!!

I am disappointed that Barbara believes it is ok to come "clean" about her affair. This will inevitably cause unnecessary pain for others who are innocent victims of her actions with her lover. As someone else noted, sometimes, skeletons are best left in a closet.
