Same here. I think the biggest I could pull off is a 1.5 ct. Im kind of a "dude" in a lot of ways, and while the bigger stones are great, I already can't use my hand well out of fear when I wear my rings now and the e-ring is just under a carat. Anything bigger is liable to blind me in my right eye from over-louping and give me a heart attack.
Weirded out a little by diamond sizes...

I agree w/ the others, maybe the cut was deep, the setting could contribute, or maybe we get spoiled by gals posting such large rings here! 
My hand is a 6 on the left and my mom's 1 ctw 3 stone ring fills it up nicely and my grandmother's .75 solitaire does too. However, my hands are small w/ not a lot of space b/t the base of finger and knuckle as well.

i have long skinny fingers..with big knuckes,(hubby says i have hands like ET) my ring size is barely a 4..but i am a tall person. i keep my nails short to minimize the ET look!
my 1 carat looks tiny to me, but i love it for sentimental reasons. i have seen other 1 carat diamonds that look much bigger, it has to do with the top diameter of the stone..mine is cut deeper, but it is white and sparkles like crazy.
