I wanted to update I kept trying to wear together but it didn't work, the other ring is now on the right hand.
Your GG's ring is really special. Maybe a jeweler could set it all in a necklace...like the side diamonds (in their settings) could still be a part of it? Or wear it on your other hand. Good luck!

I don't know how you feel about bracelets, but a cuff might be a nice way to preserve your vintage setting and allow you to wear it daily. My husband gave me a new solitaire for Valentine's Day, but I wanted to be able to keep and wear my original diamond. I already had a solitaire pendant, and I like to swap out my right hand rings and necklaces too much. I worked with the same jeweler who created my new ring to make my cuff. The bezel setting matches my the ring, and the bracelet is extremely comfortable. I like being able to wear the old and new every day.

If you're not attached to wearing it as a ring, how about setting it into a pendant? You can always keep the original ring setting if you change your mind. I had a solitaire ring passed down from my grandmother reset as a pendant that I wear everyday since I also have a solitaire engagement ring. My pendant setting matches my ring setting so it actually kind of looks like a set. I took a quick picture to show you what I mean.
I actually like that look! And coincidentally started wearing 2 of my grandmothers diamond rings on the same finger a few days ago and am really starting to love it!
