I haven't been much on Social Media lately and missed the latest London bashing frenzy. Daily, I see people wearing H bags scarves and accessories, and even a little bit of RTW. It does seem to be a trend though to complain about London being an evil dangerous place. I recently visited New York and Paris and cant really say that there is much difference. (just like London it does depend on the areas you visit) If anything though, smaller rural areas might be more crime ridden. check this article out: https://jon-chadwick.com/2025/07/31/is-london-dangerous/
Not sure why "influencers" like to single out London in this way. Absolutely no more at risk for H stealing than any other major city. H sightings are common throughout many parts of London. You stand much for of a chance of having your cell phone stolen from your hand than any purse snatching..... just saying.....

I was in London again a couple of weeks ago and carried my B30 everywhere with no worries. I will say that my father who is an elderly Brit was very concerned about DH's Rolex and insisted that he remove it as a young man was recently killed near Belgrave Square for his Rolex. Dad did not seem to notice mine and had no idea that an Hermès bag might be just as desirable 🤣

Just the other day I saw a lady on Oxford street in 'I am on the Hermes journey' uniform - Chypre sandals, chaine d'Ancre skirt and Picotin with a twilly. I see tourists wearing Hermes bags all the time, and only once or twice saw them hiding bags under coats.
I must look like I have been on an Hermes journey all my life! 😬
But seriously through, watches and mobile phones are much more targeted, as faster and easier to dispose for cash, so I would advise being more careful wearing super bling/ expensive/ chrono type timepieces or looking at a phone while walking.

Agree. I consider normal city precautions to include long sleeves falling over my wrists. This isn’t a problem for me, even in warmer climates, as I need something bc of air conditioning chill.

I might turn my bag, hw facing towards my body, but I also keep an eye on my surroundings. I avoid crowds esp re tourist situations. In the areas that I frequent, my Hermes or jewelry doesn’t really stand out from that of others

I so agree
and think we should be flying the flag of beating the drum about being alert and keeping an eye on surroundings at all times
but that doesn't have to spoil you time by making you neurotic
just be generally alert
know that wherever you are there are going to be opportunists

Agree with both of these opinions.
I do wear an Evie to London by preference and quite happily as it’s very convenient and I will usually have scarf and belt etc. with it.
I also tend to daily use H bags in my locality which is a normal town in England and most people appear to be unaware of things like that.
The biggest thing I think for not being aware is the now normal trend of wearing headphones.
That is something I won’t do unless I am in a space that is very safe and controlled.
I am probably too cautious but like to be able to hear what is going on around me.

My perspective as a traveller is that London and Paris have no greater level of violent thefts than any other major city but those who have honed the dying art of pickpocketing are still more prevalent in European cities, especially London, Paris, Venice and Lisbon.

My advice is - be alert. Don’t be a walking advertisement of wealth, don’t be an easy target (distracted, open purse, leave it on a counter etc) and don’t take anything you cannot afford to lose.

At the end of the day, you will likely stand out as a tourist and, as you are focused on the sites, someone might take advantage. The only thing that says about London is that there is so much to see.

Fully support your point regarding headphones. I never wear them outside, except on a plane. Not on a train (maybe one ear max), not while running in my ratty old workout clothes in our save park without any valuables on my body. Just being aware of your surroundings is key! In our parks it is actually dogs running wild without a leash and proper training that worry me most, coming up and bitting or hunting passing joggers. Awful. Of topic.

yes there is definitely a lot to see and do in London - four Hermes boutiques within walking distance of each other other for starters ha ha:giggle: but seriously the most dangerous thing is not wearing Hermes or carrying stacks of orange boxes. The real danger is when people are walking distracted staring at the their iPhone. I virtually never take my phone out when I am walking and if it rings I will wait till I am somewhere private to check it.When did we become slaves to our phones?
