Hi everyone,
I’m travelling to London soon and I’ve heard a few things about not being able to carry expensive bags lately. e,g Birkins and Kelly’s, some even say Chanel.
Would some londoners give input on this?
I obviously would love to take some bags but I don’t if it’s unsafe.
I know at the beginning of the year when I was there is was fine but I’ve heard things have changed.
I only really stay around the bigger places, Mayfair, Knightsbridge etc etc.
Thanks!

Well I wear Hermes around those exact areas, my base is South Kensington. I carry my bags, wear H RTW and when I feel like it, I take the bus, Tube, cabs and walk. I do carry my Croc K on the bus for example, no one notices. Just be aware of your surroundings as usual, in any situation. I wear discreet bling but if you feel unfamiliar in this city then perhaps tone that down a little. Winter is here so the sunsets are quite early now. Take care but enjoy London.

I agree with the above, take care and remain aware of your surroundings. I'm visiting family in London atm and am very familiar with the city (used to live here), I see luxury worn around these areas all the time, e.g. I saw a woman wearing a croc Constance the other day. I personally haven't brought designer bags with me and am carrying my Longchamp because I find the whole process of transporting designer bags stressful.

I carry H almost everyday but it's not obvious. I live here. I am fairly confident on the street, however the idea that things just happen in street muggings are not accurate. Even in a changing room in a small boutique with security behind a locked door, I'm still going to be aware of where my bag is. It's usually when we're tired, too trusting and let our guard down things happen.

Most H bags are expensive (best part of £10K or more ) whichever size/leather. If people choose to buy conspicuous or inconspicuous bags it's such a shame they feel they can't wear them. I certainly wouldn't take them on a mountain hike in the countryside but a major shopping city wouldn't worry me.

Like @periogirl28 I see Bs & Ks galore every day in London (West End: Mayfair, Knightsbridge, Kensington, Chelsea etc) but I don't know how these people travel locally or where they come from.

The most important thing is if you feel safe. Do (or don't do) what you're most comfortable with.

I too live in London.
(born here in fact)
As previously stated its no worse than any other major city.
Just be aware of your surroundings and you'll be fine.
I am in central London every day and see countless Hermes bags worn both on the street, in stores and occasionally on the subway.
In fact I see mostly Chanel worn on the subway which is much more conspicuous and obvious to the untrained eye than Hermes.
Enjoy your trip.
And by the way..Its freezing here at the moment so bring your cashmere!

Noticed that it’s an old post but still wanna know…
Do people wear H bags on tube in London? Are B/Ks or other H bags commonly seen in London?

Wanted to wear the bags but not sure if it’s safe. Any insight?

Yes.
London has some of the highest H bags sightings I have seen personally, outside Asia. But mostly in Knightsbridge/ Belgravia/ Mayfair/ Chelsea etc.
