Wearing eyeliner by itself

I am Asian too (am Chinese) and I sometimes wear eyeliner on its own (I usu use dark brown tho I do have a dark purple by Chanel).

If I do anything it's mascara alone. I think eyeliner would be a bit harsh on an unfinished face.

i wear liner only alot, when i do i always wear makeup, to make my eyes pop a little more. i have dark eyes too, and green and violet liners are fun on no eyeshadow days for some extra color and pizazz

I'm Asian too, and I wear eyeliner daily. I wanted a natural look at first so I tried Revlon Colorstay Cocoa (a lighter brown-bronze color.) However, I have really dark eyes and it ended up not looking too good (It had red undertones and ended up just making me look like a vampire.) Since I think black eyeliner is too harsh for the everyday, I've switched to black/brown or just brown on my eyes, and boy does it make a difference! My eyes definitely pop more and it looks more natural than black liner.

I tightline my eyes and then rim the inner corners. Then I wing out my liner just a little bit, cause I LOVE the look of elongated eyes (I wish I had them naturally!!) a little taupe eyeshadow and bam, I'm out the door! I don't use mascara b/c my lashes take too long to curl and the effect of it does almost nothing to them (stick straight lashes take too much time to beef up, I might as well just use falsies..)

I usually wear eyeliner winged-out, with no eyeshadow. It's important, though, that you curl the lashes and apply mascara.

I do the same thing, personally. I have very light, long lashes and I don't like the way my eyes look with eyeliner only.

I love winged eyeliner, and wearing a pair of short natural falsies really does the trick for my stick straight eyelashes. Theres a pair of short ones by Spring Heart (japanese brand) that really looks like my own eyelashes!

I almost always wear only eyeliner on my eyes. IMO it makes more of a difference than eyeshadow or mascara alone, and it is MUCH easier to wear especially if you wear contacts or have sensitive eyes. I just use a pencil in a neutral color (black, brown, pewter, navy) under the bottom lashes only, it is quick to apply and if it smudges I can just wipe away the smudges with my finger during the day and reapply, no raccoon eyes requiring eye makeup remover. I also don't get irritating flecks in my eyes like with mascara and some eyeshadows. I would not leave my house without my eyeliner (and lipstick and concealer, those are my 3).

I do wear mascara every once in awhile, but most days I just don't because it is just so irritating sometimes and it is difficult to fix smudges and I can't rub my eyes all day then. I have dark eyelashes though, so all it really does is define them a little more, not really a big deal for me.

I personally look strange with just eyeliner...probably because I have really large, pale eyelids, so you can really see that I do not have color anywhere else and the liner REALLY stands out.
If you don't want to wear eyeshadow, though, and can pull off liner without it, I'd go for it. I'd probably still wear mascara though, just to give a more finished look...so it doesn't look like you forgot something.

i usually wear mascara and eyeliner! i have to say im in love with revlons eyeliner!- it has a smudgy thing at the other end. So smooth and soft! eyeliner and mascara is a must have!

I'm asian and i just wear eyeliner, it makes a difference and its very quick to apply which is a plus for me because i'm always late but if i have some spare time i put a bright colour all around my eye but leaving out the bottom then put black around the bottom, it makes your eyes stand out

Interesting thread! I love eyeliner and always, always wear mascara but I am not sure what it means to tight-line your eyes...can anyone please explain this to me?

Also, do you think that smudging is the best/only way to soften harsh eyeliner edges? I am Latina and have very olive skin, but (oddly enough) also have very big blueish/yellow (in the center) eyes...so sometimes liner can look pretty harsh on me. TIA!!
