How does one take care of vintage croc or alligator? Regular moisturize and store in room temperature? or should it go to Hermes Spa every so often? (Like a car for an oil change and inspection :) )

I bought a vintage croc Pullman from 1959 which was in great shape on the outside but terribly stained inside. The clochette was falling apart, so I took the bag to my local H and they were all over it of course! They said they would make me a new one, although the colour wouldn't obviously be exactly the same: I left the bag aswell just to be spa-ed. After not too long I went to pick it up and the bag was much shinier and the new clochette very similar. I only paid 50 Euros for the clochette which, even then, seemed a steal! All this happend about 18 years ago.

Fast forward, I never used the bag ONCE! It felt too lady like for my style, I'm very casual, also the stained inside made me a bit squeamish! So in the end I sold it:sad:

If it's in your style I would definately buy vintage croc rather than new, the skins were much better! My personal all time favourite H croc bag is the 32 HAC or 35 Birkin with fabric inside, which were around quite a long time ago now. They were softer than now, more casual (which croc skin was meant to be originally) and slouched, which I adore!
