If you are careful about choosing bags on the resale market, lambskin can be far more beautiful and luxurious than caviar, and it can last decades. I have owned chanel bags since 1990 and purchased bags and RTW since 2001, and the quality was quite good. I buy fewer chanel bags these days, but my last purchase in 2021 is great quality. I also have chanel lambskin jackets, pants, and skirts that are supple and gorgeous.

I would caution against buying a vintage Chanel (or any vintage bag for that matter) online, as the photos really do not show the "flaws" of a bag. You have to feel/touch and see the leather in person. I've purchased a vintage Chanel (early 1990s) mini caviar bag and the photos looked great - no corner wear or chain wear, but the actual bag was in terrible condition - the corners had significant wear that was not seen when photographed with a glare, and the chain links / caviar were heavily worn. I was able to return the bag with no issue, but did not purchase anything since. I also bought a vintage Hermes Kelly bag; the bag was as described (as the seller was very detailed); I do not reach for it much now and want to sell it -> but no local reseller in the US would give me a direct-buyout offer (only consignment). The reason being is that it's vintage and in box leather. So decide carefully.

I had bought some 80s, 90s, early 2000’s Chanel bags, in lamb skin and calf skin, most of them were great, like new or very good used condition unless sellers had retouched them and hide the damages. The most amazing are vintage gold plated chanel cosmetic jewelries and accessories (belts brooch etc), still shining brand new to this day

Ahh ok good to know this, so perhaps it’s calfskin on the white bags?, as it does not feel buttery, it feels silky somewhat, but not buttery. It’s hard to know as it’s vintage and probably not disclosed exactly what leather in coloured flaps, not like the black where it’s either lambskin or caviar.

I have had calfskin vintage Chanel in light blue and black, they feel like very fine smooth leather; lambskin ones feel extremely tender.. supple.. I don't know how to accurately describe it, but the most amazing fine smooth leather I have touched.

Perfect! vintage calfskin is smooth to touch. I do know what you mean, I have Supple buttery lambskin vintage Bally bags, it’s a luxurious texture.
