Vintage Coach bag feels a bit like rubber to touch

I've recently bought my first Coach bag and it's a vintage one (Pelham Zip). I bought it on ebay so I couldn't touch it before receiving. I've posted some pictures of it to the authentication thread and the lovely people volunteering there said it's genuine.
I haven't cleaned it yet but when I unpacked it, I straight away noticed the leather feels a little bit like rubber on the outside. I don't have experience with vintage bags so it may be a silly question but is this normal? The bag looks fine and is sturdy otherwise.

Hi. I recently bought a coach city zip signature tote. The seller says it is authentic from coach factory outlet. When it arrived i immediately inspected it and have doubts with its authenticity. Please help. Thanks

Why do you doubt the authenticity? I’ve never heard of a counterfeit of a Coach outlet bag, though it’s possible I suppose........I’m not one of the authenticators, but I can say this bag appears completely legit. Does it smell like leather? Sometimes people use products that change the texture of the leather, like paint or shoe polish. It's hard to tell. You might contact the seller and ask what products were used.

I have inspected the bag and everything else looks authentic. Only the C are not aligned perfectly. I just checked the zipper and managed to see the YKK logo.

Zipper logo doesn't mean anything. Coach has used many brands of zippers. I thought you were going to post this the authenticate thread, but I don't remember seeing it there.

An Admin by the name of Swanky closed my thread in the coach authentication thread. I am aware that coach used many types of zippers along the years and YKK being the famous one. What is your take on this bag based on the pictures supplied?

I am chasing time. And needed it authenticated soonest by 5pm today Malaysian time. Or else my payment will be transferred to the seller. If the bag turns out to be other than authentic i can ask for a refund. Sorry, will be cautious next time.
