Hi ladies! I got the blue agate bracelet yesterday (only one they had in stock in the 5th ave store), and I’m absolutely in love with it. I also tried on a second bracelet (white gold guilloche) and loved how that looked (almost got that over agate). I tried on the yellow gold and it almost blended in with my skin tone and didn’t have the wow factor of the WG.

I really want to get another one to stack with the blue (as a treat to myself for recently getting promoted at work), but it seems like the WG guilloche is more of a standalone piece (I like how it looks with my engagement ring). So, I think the white MOP would be better to stack and also turn into the bracelet since the guilloche would look too mismatched with the Agate.

So…should I get the white gold guilloche that I love or get the white MOP since it goes better with the agate? Seems like there’s not really a lot of white gold stacking options.

The bracelet is also super loose on me but I don’t mind it. The SA recommended taking out links, but I’m worried if I take out too many I can’t combined two for a necklace. Has anyone taken out links and still use as necklace? He also said clipping the bracelet with one motif hanging out good damage the clasp long term.

I like that I can slip the bracelet on and off without opening the clasp right now. But I’m also worried that it would fall off or get damaged from banging onto something.

So two questions:

1. Should I get the WG guilloche as a second piece or stick to yellow gold motifs? I guess I can wear both separately but I think it’d look weird as a necklace. Which one looks better on my wrist?

2. Does anyone else with smaller wrists not get them shortened? Can you link two bracelets as a necklace if you take out links? Do you think I should shorten it? My wrists are 14cm for reference. I wear a size 16 love and 15 JUC.

Thanks!

Congratulations, the blue agate is gorgeous! Answering your questions in reverse, as I think the second issue is more of a concern:

2. I really think you need to have the bracelet shortened, especially since you can take it off without unclasping it! Plus, the chain hanging off your wrist can easily get caught on things.

1. If you really want to stack bracelets, then in my opinion, the MOP with yellow gold would go much better with blue agate. Have to say that the white gold guilloche looks stunning on you and is a perfect match for your stunning engagement ring!

I have the blue agate bracelet and I think what matches it is another colored stone in yellow gold like malachite, carnelian, onyx, or tiger's eye. Malachite needs extra care so if you want to be carefree about your bracelets, e.g. you often put hand cream on or wash your hands a lot, you should not get it.

Anyway, the white gold guilloché alone looks better on you and I think you should shorten it if you could take it off without unclasping it. Also I don't think combining bracelets to form a necklace is not that good, primarily because the motifs on a necklace are more widely spaced than the bracelets (you can count the links in between to see what I mean), not to mention a lot of clasps would be so visible.

Tough dilemma. If you’re dead set on stacking, then I think you need both.

WG Guilloche because you absolutely love it. I agree, it looks very good on you especially with that ring!

YG MOP to go with blue agate bracelet and any other YG VCA bracelets in your future.

FIRST.

Go for what you love.
The WG guilloche looks stunning on you and even more stunning with your ering.

Then figure out what you want after you wear the WG guilloche for a little bit. It may change your priorities.

SECOND.
Shorten your bracelet at least enough so it does NOT slip off your hand. Bad idea to leave it hanging that much. You Might lose it, knock it, snag it. My opinion is make the bracelet fit your properly and worry about attaching to make a necklace later. See how you feel about motifs after you’ve owned it for a while and have a chance to try more 10 motif necklaces.

I think you should have the vintage bracelet shortened regardless of whether it is in Agate or Guilloche. I will say I adore the wg Guilloche on you! Its stunning. If you decide on Agate then I thin another Alhambra with yellow gold would work best. If you went with guilloche (and wanted to stack despite risking scratches) then wg MOP or chalcedony would work.

I really love the white gold guilloche on you. Blue agate is beautiful as well but I also find it to be hard to stack thus delayed getting it, and ended up with the white gold chalcedony instead, then I'm planning to get the white gold guilloche for stacking.

The bracelet in its original length is definitely too long on you. I have mine shorten to roughly 6" (15 cm), the shortest option they have without incurring additional charge, it's still a bit loose on me but the length is still good for me to wear it as a necklace. I just hook it to a 6" chain it wears more like a choker, but it still work since I have a really thin neck. Agreed with @EpiFanatic, you don't need to make it a tight/perfect fit, but at least shorten it to a point where it's not uncomfortably loose on you, especially if you plan on stacking it with other bracelets or bangles, it'll prevent the motifs from sliding around your wrist and get banged up with scratches.

Thanks so much everyone! Based on everyone’s feedback, I think I’ll definitely need to get it shortened. I can always put it on another chain and turn it into a choker (doesn’t have to be two VCA Bracelets).

I’m also leaning towards getting the WG guilloche as my second piece (know that’s what I want deep down). I love the agate on its own as a pop of color, and I think both bracelets are beautiful alone. I can always build separate WG and YG stacks and switch depending on my mood / outfit

My other question is:

1. Does anyone with the WG guilloche know how easy it is to scratch relative to the YG guilloche and other motifs? I know the YG guilloche is pretty easy to scratch. My assumption is the agate will be more carefree. I wouldn’t be wearing the bracelet 24-7 but also don’t want to baby it too much.

2. For people who wear their bracelets with JUC, how do you make sure the pointy end of the nail doesn’t scratch the motifs? I put it on with my small JUC and kept getting worried that the nail would scratch it. Maybe this is less of a concern once I shorten the bracelet and it stops moving up and down my arm.

Thanks again for all the help  so in love with my new piece!

The Guilloche will scratch easily, but I don’t find the scratches obvious. The WG looks stunning on you! I tried it and thought it was spectacular- it is shiny and gorgeous, but like you, I don’t want to worry about scratches.

Blue agate is sturdy, and would look with carnelian. They are a gorgeous combo, even though I think alone neither is spectacular. If you want spectacular- wear your YG and WG Guilloche together. I would shorten both. I mix YG and WG and the contrast is beautiful.

For your JUC, once you shorten your bracelet, wear it on the opposite side of the pointy part, but it has to be short enough not to move to the other side. I personally like my bracelets on the shorter side, so I can arrange my stacks. Good luck! All your choices are wins!
