Hi all

Just wondering if anyone with a 2 inch extender for a vintage alhambra necklace can tell me if the clasp becomes too lopsided / visible when adding the removable extender.

I'm trying to decide whether to do the permanent 2 inch extension vs getting a removable. My understanding with the permanent is they add 1 inch chain length evenly to both sides of the necklace so its balanced whereas if you get a removable then the whole 2 inches are added to one side and given the pendant is fixed it may be lopsided.

Thanks in advance and if someone has photos that would be even more fantastic!

I’m not sure if this will help, but I have a 2 inch extender on a 10 motif alhambra necklace. I like having a removable extender because it gives me options for which length to wear the necklace depending on my outfit.
I find if I put on the necklace where the clasp is on the right side, the necklace looks off center. When I put it on with the clasp on the left side, the necklace looks perfect. I have no idea why this is the case and it took some experimenting to figure out. I’m assuming you’re talking about a single motif, so not sure if this helps at all. Just figured I’d chime in just in case. :)

Thanks for your reply! I guess the clasp wud be a little off centre though I assume 1 to 2 inches wont be a huge deal. I've ordered a 2 inch extender with jump rings at 1 inch and 2 inch from yokdee jewellery so hopefully it turns out ok. Still within the window for free permanent extension though I'll probably wear it at 16 inch most of the time and figured it might be annoying having that extra bit of chain hanging off if I do the permanent 18 inch extension so removable one will hopefully work out better.

They apparently do one that matches the VCA chain. Hav yet to receive mine but I ordered a 2 inch extender with a jump ring at 1 inch for 70USD.

If you Facebook message them im sure they can customise any length. Hope this helps.

If you live in the US, I have bought from this seller on Ebay (found out about it here). The chains are not an exact match, but it works well enough behind my neck. They do sell several different size chains that are similar, but not exactly the same as VCA. I have a 2" 1.5mm to use with my pave Alhambra necklace.

Just to let y'all know I received my 2 inch (5cm) extender from yokdee and its a pretty damn good match for my holiday pendant. Still wondering whether or not to just get the permanent extension whilst still in the 90 day period as it is a bit wonky when putting on but once it's on you can't see the extender at all.

That does look great! It's good to know the actual chain width, too. I am not having mine extended. I think these small pendants are just about the right length, so I'd rather use the extender than have it longer than I want other times (or have extra chain hanging).

Argh! Am still in two minds bout staying put with the extender or doing the permanent mod whilst in the 3 mth free period.

What I love about the removable extender is no chain hanging off the end when I wear it at 16.5. Also my extender gives the option of 17.5 which is useful for certain outfits.

I wish VCA would do 3 jump rings at 16.5, 17.5 and 18.5.

I feel like I'd be wearing it mainly at 16.5 or 17.5. Hmmmmm what to do???
