I love vert d’eau and I love all shades of greys yet somehow the combination together for option 1 looks so bad to me it’s probably because the shades are close in their brightness or “lightness” (sorry not an artist have no idea the proper color theory terms) that makes mixing them side by side weird to me. Like the grey is somehow making the light green muddy to me; gets worse the longer I stare at it. I’d have to go option 2 if I am absolutely forced to choose between these two.

What about a verso order? Just vert deau outside; with the inside a different color lining. Or play with different stitching colors. Honestly those would be as special and much more harmonious to my eyes.

But in the end it’s your SO, as long as you like it I’m sure you will rock it!

Combo 1 if i had to pick. I do not like Combo 2 because the mixing of a cool and a warm toned color throws off the bag imo. If it’s a special order you’re creating maybe consider verso with vert d outside and a nice pop inside!

If I HAD to choose between these two options I’d go for vert d’eau but neither of these combinations is to my taste at all. The skin is so stunning in vert d’eau that I’d let it be the star. I think it’s overdoing it to introduce this non-complementary contrast colour. I think this is a risk with SO. Sometimes less is more.

A vert d’eau verso, on the other hand, could be stunning, maybe with something from the cooler, lighter toned end of the purple family on the inside.

But if it’s for you, all that matters is whether you like it.

This is not what you asked, so probably unhelpful, but I definitely prefer them all 1 color rather than mixed. Vert d'eau is absolutely STUNNING by itself.
