thank you! the size difference is quite a lot wow, but i totally see your dilemma! the beautiful rope detailing is so much more pronounced on the large one, but the smaller one is definitely more everyday.
 As I get older, my jewellery gets bigger lol :P

Ha! Me too! I don't wanna have to put on my glasses to see it!:coolio:

Two things have kept me from ordering the necklace :

1) small versus large — I can’t make up my mind. I lean toward the large because of the longer length, but I go back and forth .
2). I was going to get my first name initial , but no one in my extended family has that same first initial. So is it silly to get an expensive piece that probably wouldn’t get passed down? Anyone have any thoughts?

Hi! I would get the large size and the initial (First or last) that looks the coolest.

Passing down things, especially jewelry, is a myth. I hear a lot of inherited jewelry is just sold for cash value.

Buy it for you to enjoy! It’s a great piece and some letters are beautiful. The large size is stunning and makes a statement.

The first issue I can’t help with because I can’t yet decide that one for myself!
Re the second, however, I’d say buy what you like and will enjoy! I have no one to pass anything on to, so that doesn’t ever factor into my thinking. I am cognizant of things that retain value, though, and I feel like the Verdura initials will do that...

If the initial becomes a "family heirloom" there is always going to be an interesting story or two to tell
so from that perspective, I'd be delighted to have that "initial"

Sbelle, that's what has stopped me from ordering the initial pendant. I'd like to use my first name initial, but my granddaughter doesn't share it. Of course, she may not always have the same last name initial either. I'm thinking the large would be well suited to 30-34 inch chain.

Buy what you love! But fwiw, if I’d inherited something with my mother’s first initial, it would mean a lot to me because it would be more personal that most of what got passed down.

I love a long necklace , so when I was looking at the large at BG I mentioned that I would love if the chain was even longer. I was told that Verdura could do a longer chain with it. I didn’t ask more about it since I was still debating about getting my first initial, but a longer chain would make it even more appealing to me.

Very true!!

Here they are. There's a big difference, for sure. I'm having two pieces sent in next week so I can compare IRL...

These are so beautiful! I would personally get the large, I believe that it shows off the detailing more.
I laughed out loud at the comment about getting older and jewelry getting bigger, that is the most true statement in the world. I am definitely going for bigger, chunkier, more statement pieces the older I get. I think it’s partially that my features become a bit stronger as I get older and so stronger jewelry balances it out.
I can’t believe that we don’t have a dedicated Verdura thread here! I am reading through all the individual scattered threads now, because I’m becoming really drawn into this brand!

I have tried both on, and while I generally am leaning toward bigger as I get older as well, I found the large size looked ridiculously big on me. Verdura can absolutely make the chains in longer lengths for either size. I’m getting the small size and think I will wear it constantly. At one point, Verdura made a charm bracelet with a V initial like these (but more elaborate). That V can catch on sweaters, which could be an issue if one wore the large initial over a sweater. But, these designs might have fewer snag points than that V
