How soon do you add the next piece to your collection?

Varies with the person, the jewelry collection and the budget. Have fun with it! Hapoy new year!

THIS!!! Totally agree that it depends on so many factors.

For me, I set aside a portion of my bonus every year for a treat whether it’s a luxury bag, jewelry, or clothing. In the past, it was all spent on Hermes. The past 2 years I’ve been buying jewelry (not just vca but other pieces as well) as well as some wardrobe items (Chanel jackets).

This year, I’m turning my attention to VCA. In addition to my bonus, if something unique catches my eye during the year, I will pull the trigger but usually those purchases are not as substantial. When I was playing the H game, I was buying Hermes scarves, wallets and accessories like they were going out of style!

I am saving for a perlee clover bracelet and ring set but that’s for a big birthday and anniversary which will be within the next 3/4 years.

In the end, I buy a) when I can afford it b) when something unique that I like comes along that is hard to get (ie, holiday pendant or Hermes rare scarf/bag) and c) during a momentous occasion with (a) being the most important consideration.

All my pieces in the MOP are in YG actually
I have the 5 motifs vintage alhambra bracelet, a vintage ring with the middle diamond, a Magic pendant.
All of my sets contains a bracelet, ring and a magic pendant usually! I don't wear earrings though
but I might invest in some in the future. I really want the matching butterfly earrings!

Not to be off topic
I do have the necklace, will be adding the ring hopefully next month
and the earrings in couple of months if I decide to. I think I am completing all of my sets lol
I just have a few that might take a year or two to save for! Who knows!

To me VCA gives me OCD I need to have a set of 3 items, I cannot wear a necklace
without the bracelet nor the ring! I don't know why, I envy the ladies who mix and match
which is super beautiful but I just can't do it! I think it is a cultural thing? We are used to wear
a set since we are young so I believe that is another reason for me to NEED buying a full set. :giggle: :panic:
Sounds like you have amazing sets! :hbeat:

And those Lucky Alhambra earrings are gorgeous!

There is nothing wrong with wearing a set - as long as it makes you happy

Fascinating about you needing sets! I only have 2 blue agate pieces, necklace and bracelet since I wear them as a 15 necklace mostly. All my other pieces are not sets. I love sets but I try to stay away since I feel I look too matchy matchy. Likely has to do with my upbringing and that no one around me wore sets.

I do believe it is the culture and the upbringing like you said, if you are used to something it will always stay with you!
My mother and my sisters always wore sets. I like mix and match sometime if I am wearing casual/traveling :)

Oh Blue Agate is gorgeous! Making a 15 motifs necklace is very clever!

They are aren't they? :)
Thank you dear for your kind words :)

My first VCA was a MOP vintage alhambra necklace which was a wedding gift from my parents, acquired last July. Second piece was acquired in December because I got promoted and I wanted to add a bracelet so I got the hammered gold 5 motif bracelet in YG. I want the 5 motif MOP or chalcedony bracelet next but to be honest I don't foresee myself buying it in the near future. I like buying jewelry to celebrate some kind of occasion and there aren't that many occasions coming up in the next 12 months. My husband and I both make six figures but we have other financial priorities, such as we want to gut renovate our kitchen, dining, and family room this year, so our money will go towards that. We are thinking of having kids in the next 2-3 years so maybe my next piece will be a push present.

Hi, I’m also new to VCA.... In December got the vintage YG pave pendant and matching earrings for my Birthday & Christmas present. Now Im wondering which bracelet to add and anything else for that matter (but not rings). The obvious choice is the YG pave and Guilloche bracelet but It’s too bling bling with the earrings and pendant I have. I want a set I can wear to work. Any tips? I found the SA wasn’t so helpful with suggestions. (I’m in Switzerland)

Good question I just got my first VCA piece yesterday for my birthday: a YG VA onyx pendant. Hope to get the matching bracelet next but not too soon, maybe end of this year or next year. This “game” is dangerously addicting lol but I follow an youtuber named Colorful Noir and find her advices on conscious and moderate luxury shopping very useful so I will keep myself reasonable and try to prioritise other financial goals first before shopping.

Have you tried the hammered? It’s more matte and less bling bling than guilloché.

I was thinking of the hammered. Part of me wanted some colour so I was also thinking the onyx bracelet.

My first piece was the 2015 holiday pendant. I added 6 pieces in 2020 :graucho: I've been wanting to buy more VCA but ended up spending it on purses and shoes. I sold a bunch of bags, SLGs, and designer costume jewelry this year since I feel like I was just collecting those items just to have. I wasn't really using it and didn't love it so I decided to sell it to fund my VCA collection. I feel like I've built a good day-to-day jewelry collection now but of course I'll continue to add more, but just not as frequently since they will be bigger purchases.

I’m also a VCA newbie. Is the Frivole range as timeless and classic as Alhambra, and is the resale value good?

I have the vintage Alhambra earrings which I adore! I was thinking whether to go with Alhambra for my second piece or the Frivole earrings (would be ideal if they had it in rose gold!).

I love the frivoles line since it is less recognisable and I love flowers. I get so many random compliments on my pave earrings. Resale seems fine though I don’t buy with that in mind. Frivoles can be very dressy or go with casual outfits. More versatile than Alhambra too. The pave with pink in middle is rose gold :graucho:

I used to be indifferent to jewelry in general, even when was working in diamond industry (had only two pieces from Marco Bicego for events). In February 2020 I got sweet pendant and bracelet from VCA, and loved those pieces so much that ended up with adding another 3 pieces within 6 months. Now I’m content with what I have and want to build memories with them. However, there are multiple items that I want to add to my collection to celebrate certain milestones :girlsigh:
