I am sure this has been asked before but I was curious how many of you that have VCA Mother of Pearl items and take them off daily? I purchased the Sweet Alhambra bracelet and have been taking it off nightly and before I shower and it is a little annoying to put back on. I have been baby-ing it so much even when washing my hands. Maybe I am spoiled with my Cartier pieces which I never take off. If anyone leaves the pieces on 24/7 how are they holding up and how long have you had them?

It's hard to say, really depends on the products you use regularly and your lifestyle...I have a friend whose mop pendant shrunk after wearing it 24/7 for a little over a year, but there are people who swear that theirs still look decent, just lost the shine over time. If you don't mind the paying the $ they can always replace the mop for you for approx $250 for vintage size, probably a bit less for sweet.

I wore my turquoise sweet butterfly showering for a few years and it lost its shine. I replaced it, but I barely wear it anymore. I don't wear my bracelets and rings when I bang my hands around. I would only wear a diamond pendant in the shower. I take off other jewelry just because I don't want soap scum and water build up to accumulate in the pieces unless it is plain gold with no stones.

But if you will not take off your pieces, just replace them when they no longer shine or when they shrink. It's just a few hundred dollars per motif. Maybe the cost of avoiding the hassle of removing is worth it to you.

I remove my MOP necklaces and bracelets (when I wear them) before showering or exercising. However, I definitely reach for them a lot less than my (non-vca) gold/diamond pieces bc I find it mildly inconvenient to remove my jewelry daily.

after I got my gold perlee clover bangle, I seldom wear the 5 motif for the same reason (grey mop with alternating diamond), one of the grey motif lost its shine after I wore it consecutively for like a few months…I think I wash my hands with soap (I took them off while shower and never near the pool tho) and I didn’t dry them up nicely as I’m always in a hurry XD, since I noticed the grey mop tarnishes and I bought the perlee clover bangle I seldom reach for it for peace of mind sake :-/

a few of my friends hv their malachite tarnishes but they are fine with it and still wear it, they just love the bright green color, but it kind of bother me when my jewellery is “aged” with obvious “wear and tear” so it really depends your level of acceptance to whether wearing mop to shower

Wow! The pendant shrinking after only one year! I wouldn't have thought it could happen that quick. If the vintage is only $250 the sweet is probably reasonable...I guess I won't be so crazy while I wash my hands to baby it LOL

I've worn my beloved 5 motifs bracelet in WMOP everyday for the last 9 months (I take it off when I come home after work). I don't shower with it obvs but I wash my hands quite a lot, though I'm careful not to have water on it. It still looks beautiful BUT I clean it everyday after taking it off with the VCA soft cloth my SA gave me. That's the secret I think because otherwise, it does tarnish a bit (at least mine does). But I wipe it off with the cloth.

I ruined one side of my WG MOP necklace on the second wear. I forgot I was wearing it and got chemicals on one side, and it dulled. Tried to clean it and just made it worse and added scratches. The other side is still perfect, and what I wear facing out now. I was going to get the matching 5 motif bracelet, and now decided I’m just not careful enough and would ruin it. So I’m sticking to onyx and carnelian now for VCA.

MOP is gorgeous though, and I think it’s very personal pending your habits and lifestyle. Many people keep theirs pristine for many years, and others (like me) will need to replace the stone to keep it looking nice over time.

The motif replacement is the same price regardless of the size I believe? At least for sweet and vintage size I was told it would be around $200 USD to replace one motif a few years back.

For what it’s worth I don’t take off my sweet MOP butterfly bracelet to shower and I’ve had it for almost two years now with no glaring issues. It does lose the luster but I’m willing to trade that off for convenience. I do the same with my sweet MOP Alhambra necklace but that one is in rotation with my other pendants. I will wear it to shower for months at a time as well.

I’ve showered with my GMOP pave alternating bracelet for a while and regret it because the loss of luster is more obvious on bigger motifs, so now I baby that bracelet.

The sweet sizes are so small that the loss in shine isn’t so significant and obvious IMO. I wouldn’t wear it to the pool or beach, or near any chemicals. But I’ve had my MOP pieces for years and enjoy them according to what I’m comfortable with and am okay with knowing I will replace the motifs down the line when they look very dull/need a refresh.

Thank you so much for the info. I am so happy to hear from people who have been using their pieces for years, gives such great insight. I'd love to see your GMOP pave bracelet!
