VCA clover - look like a cross?

I second Hermesaholic. It's called a quatrefoil, and although it's long been associated with Christianity, it's a design element that pre-dates Christ.

I'm a man and when I see it I immediately think of VC&A. I see it as a plant, a flower or a four-leaf clover. And I think it looks better than the heart. Hearts are everywhere but the VCA clover is unmistakable.

Very interesting, thanks for the info!

Well, to me it just looks like a clover. But I can *somewhat* see what he may be thinking...the Irish Clover or Shamrock was used by Saint Patrick to illustrate the Christian doctrine of the Trinity. In a VERY abstract sense, it has the elements of a "cross." But no, I wouldn't have ever thought it looked like a cross at first glance.

(confession: when I was a teen, I used to think, when I saw the VCA clover, that it was LV - *snort*)

^bumping this thread.

My DH thought the same thing too when I was looking to purchase an Alhambra necklace/bracelet or even the earrings. To me, it looked like a clover. But to him it looked like a cross..like a Red Cross symbol. Plus he couldn't understand why the material in the motifs costs so much. So we settled for something else that was pave.

Funny I thought only my DH thought it looked like a cross. Seems like a lot of men feel the same way about these motifs.

I never thought that it looks like a cross, it looks like a clover to me even before I knew about VCA...sometimes people just interpret things a little differently.

I am not religious and I would never wear a cross but I can honestly say I never even thought of it being associated as a cross until I opened this thread, it looks like a 4 leaf clover to me.

As the name suggests, the motifs of the VCA Alhambra line are influenced by the architectural patterns in the Alhambra palace, an example of Islamic architecture located in Spain. If the design is associated with any religion, it would be Islam as it derives from the Alhambra (Islamic) palace.
